Part 1 of a 3 part story

Debra Denice Snoddy's life was cut far too short in 1953, at the young age of 15, due to a series of circumstances beyond her control. Feeling cheated by her fate, she made a deal with a humanoid-looking creature with a froglike face and hands, wearing a brown suit and hat. Podo is a Terrademon who has the power to give living flesh to unascended spirits who are desperate to live again, even if only temporarily. At the end of the night, she dies again, the same way she did before, when it was real. And Podo consumes the discarded flesh, as demon ghouls do. It's best to do this on the night of the Harvest Moon, because the moon is the collector of disembodied souls, and during the Harvest Moon, the moon is gorged, it can't consume more, until it delivers its cargo to the sun, the disseminator of Life. This is the time that it's safest for spirits to walk in the open, without fear of being collected by the moon. The rest of the year, they have to hide in dark places where the moon can't find them. There was a Harvest Moon the night Debbie died, all those years ago. It's the anniversary of her death, and she lives in that night, in her mind. She wants to relive the Harvest Moon Dance, but have it go better than it did that time she died for real, the first time. It couldn't go worse. This is the story of her 1978 return to Wilson High. She's done this every year since 1953, and she'll keep doing it every year from now on, until the moon catches her. But given the moon's condition during the Harvest Moon, it's likely the moon will never catch her. For now, the chapters will come out in 3 comics. When all three are done, a 100 page graphic novel will be made of the three chapters:

  • Chapter 1: "Dear Dead Debbie" introduces us to Debbie. And Tommy, Debbie's chosen "date" for the night. Tommy is later revealed to be a psychic, which could explain why he was able to see Debbie before she became visible. Tommy is a popular senior, and one of the stars of the Wilson Wildcats basketball team. His dad is the manager of his uncle's construction company, and Tommy works there during summers, as a "fetcher".
  • Chapter 2: "Good Witch Annessa" introduces us to Debbie's mom, who died from an overdose of nerve pills, a short time after the 10th anniversary of Debbie's passing. She's buried next to Debbie, and haunts the graveyard, which is a part of the after-dance road trip. Annessa's ghost nags at Debbie at the graveyard, in a ghost language that Tommy can't understand. Debbie didn't know Tommy could see and hear her mom's ghost, until he asks her what the ghost said. Debbie and her mom are maternally descended from witches.
  • Chapter 3: "Old Man Grant" introduces us to Debbie's dad, who is still alive, in his early 60s, as a WW2 vet would be, in 1978. On the way to taking Debbie home, Tommy hits the same train crossing that led to Debbie's accident in 1953. At first Tommy thinks he recovered from it well, until he sees that Debbie is no longer in the car. He stops the car and gets out to look for her, but only finds a roadside cross, and an old man with a campfire, some distance further. Grant Snoddy was expecting Tommy, or someone like him, because this happens every year. The old man and the young man get drunk, while the old man tells the young man everything about it. In the distance, Tommy sees the ghost mom lurking in the trees. He tells the old man about the ghost, but the old man ignores him and continues his story. When it comes to the part about the creep who was driving the car when Debbie died, Tommy reveals that he's psychic and that over the years Grant has thought about the man so much, that his mind has found him, but since Grant's not a psychic, he doesn't have access to the information. Tommy says he can put his hand on Grant's head and retrieve the information. When he says he has the creep's location, Grant wants Tommy to tell him where, but Tommy says over the years the creep has learned everything about Grant, because he's afraid of him, but Grant doesn't know the creep at all. If the two were in front of each other, Grant wouldn't know who he's looking at, but the creep would. That's a fatal disadvantage for him to have. Grant is retired and has a sawmill that he no longer operates. Grant offers Tommy his sawmill, in exchange for bringing him the creep. That would be great, because instead of having to work for his uncle's construction company, he could be one of its suppliers. Deal! As Tommy walks back to his car, the old man drives his pickup toward the other side of the field, where he drove in. When he reaches the place where his wife's ghost is wafting, he tells her he has to cook his own meals, and he's not a good cook.

Timescape Fantasy

I have two titles, so far. One is for horror stories, the other is about superheroes. They are in the same universe. Everything that happens in The Retaliators' world also happened in the world of the horror stories, and vice versa. The events of one series might be referenced in the other series.

  • The Retaliators® (superheroes)
  • Descent Into Hell® (horror)
