Dear Nancy follows the forbidden love between a young interracial couple in the 1940s.

Yarran, a World War II veteran of colour, is struck by a bullet during a battle against the Germans, leaving him fatally wounded. As he lays on the rough terrain, taking his last breaths, he reflects on his most treasured memory; saving his beloved wife Nancy from her abusive father when they were only young. This tragic romance unfolds through a series of flashbacks as Yarran imagines himself writing a final goodbye letter to his one true love, back home in his study on his old ivory typewriter.

Dear Nancy is heavily inspired by the work of Directors, Robert Mulligan, Roman Polanski, Billy Wilder, and Howard Hawks. Using inspiration from such films, including To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Chinatown (1975) and The Big Sleep (1946), we aim to produce a beautiful film.

For this film to become possible, we require a budget of $2230. 

These contributions will go towards things such as qualified crew, hard-drives for data wrangling, catering, Production Design, Accommodation, and Travel. 

If we are lucky enough to obtain more than our goal, we will be placing the excess money into departments such as Production Design, Actors and of course, perks for you guys. 

Yarran

Nill was personally handpicked by the director, Taylah Bons as she scrolled through profiles on an online casting platform. She came across Nill David, who she instantly stood out to her, telling her "this is the one". Nill graciously accepted the offer and officially became the leading man for Dear Nancy. 

Nill has been involved in several Australian commercials as well as some short films, television series, and one feature titled I am Woman (2018). 

Nancy

Having undergone various training in places such as 'Film & Television Studio International', 'New Faces Talent Academy', 'VCA', 'TAFTA' and 'NIDA', Scarlett won the hearts of Director Taylah and Producer Laura in her overwhelmingly emotional monologue during her audition for the role of 'Nancy'. Not only was Scarlett's bright eyes and soft facial features perfect for this role, but she is also able to convey love and beauty through her acting and performance. 

Walter

Having had experience in acting since 1990, Tim has remained devoted to his career and managed to find himself roles in a variety of productions. During his audition for the role of 'Walter', Tim signaled the deep emotions of a protective father, which not only fit perfectly with his role but also won over the hearts of the casting crew.  

Taylah Bons

Known mainly from her most recent short, 'Polaroid'. Taylah is a couple of months away from completing her Bachelors's in Film and Television Production at JMC Academy in Melbourne, Australia. With this degree, Taylah is hoping to pursue a career in the industry, specialising in areas such as Directing, Producing, Production Design, Editing, and Marketing.  

Laura Taggart

Having also Produced Taylahs previous film, 'Polaroid', Laura has formed a strong and effective working relationship alongside T.Rose Productions. Laura has a highly organised nature which enables her role as Producing thoroughly productive. Taylah is nothing but thrilled to be working alongside Laura once again. 

Amy Marree Nuttall

Surprise, surprise. Another recurring face from the crew of 'Polaroid'. Not only was Amy the Production Designer for Tayahs past project, but also 1st Assistant Directed after a last-minute crew dilemma. Amy has not only proven to be a highly capable crew member but has also become one of Taylahs close friends and go-to-girl when preparing for an upcoming production. 

Cooper Hands

Co-founder of Krakin Productions, Cooper Hands has formed quite the name for himself. Not only has he found himself working alongside various student Directors in the past year but he was also the lead Photographer and Cinematographer for Australian Artist, Beau Brooks,  for his most recent music video 'Powder'. 

Callum Wright

After reviewing Callums work in Production Designing for recent short film 'Package from Mr.S (2019), Taylah couldn't imagine anyone more appropriate for this role. With his bubbly personality and enthusiastic work ethic, Callum creates a rewarding and enjoyable working environment as well as being efficient in his role at all times. 

Odin Karis

Taylah first met Odin on a set during 2019 and instantly knew she would be calling him with a job in the close future. Odin has proven to not only be a friendly and exciting member of a crew but also puts 110% into every production he finds himself on. Taylah admired this and didn't think twice when searching for a Sound Designer for Dear Nancy.
