We are very excited to share our short film and dark comedy, Death Blow.
Here's our story:
What could be more humiliating than selling blow-up sex dolls for a living?
Well... Being fired by your boss, who then hires a blow-up doll to replace
you. After all, she provides outstanding customer service.
And so our disgruntled and slightly psychotic protagonist, Jack, decides to kill his boss ... only to find out that the jerk has beaten him to it. Looks like Jack wasn’t the only one unsatisfied at work.
But now, Jack’s got it in his head that he can make a name for himself. Everyone remembers killers, right? So Jack goes after the other people who have made his life hell: his customers. He's no expert though, so Jack enlists the help of Liv, an inanimate blow-up doll, as his accomplice in crime.
Death Blow is a satire of the contemporary media industry: the way the news immortalizes, and almost glorifies, the actions of mass killers. The media shape our perceptions, and the amount of recognition given these criminals carries a dangerous risk of encouraging others to commit similarly heinous acts. Our film explores this issue, and how it can connect with the larger themes of identity and self-esteem in modern society.
Think: Horrible Bosses (2011) meets Dexter
(2006-2013).

Through
various sources, we have already raised over $1800
to help begin production on this film. This has gone a long way towards getting
the material we need for production.
However;
making a film is a long road that doesn't end when we pack up the camera. Once
we finish photography, we will enter into another long and difficult process;
the terrifying world of editing and visual effects. To finish this film, we
need another $2000 to go towards essential production and
post-production costs. This is why we need your help!

- Prop Rentals, Set Décor, and
Wardrobe
- Video Post-Production and Colour
Correction Software
- Music Production Software
- Marketing and Promotional
Materials
- Transportation
- Food; so that our actors and crew
can stay happy and healthy on-set!
