LOGLINE: When a deadbeat dad thinks he’s killed his daughter’s new pet llama on her 6th birthday, he must spend the afternoon working with his ex-wife's new boyfriend to replace it before she comes home.

Shooting this June, this film will be my greatest undertaking in my time at Tisch. In addition to leading a crew to upstate New York where we will be shooting and lodging on a ranch, we will be working with live animals and a cast and crew of at least 22 people across three locations. I believe with this amount raised, plus our school allotment, this story can reach its full potential and play out beautifully on screen.

Along with this campaign I have started a blog titled Nearly Wrapped to mark the closure of nearly a decade of work but hint towards the years of work that lie ahead of me. I could not have gotten to this point without my parents’ and siblings’ support, and now I’m asking for yours. I will be updating both my campaign and blog weekly with notes, stories, pictures, and videos of my progress, and I hope that people follow.

Thank you for all of those who took the time to read this and thank you in advance to those who offer their continuous support.

Every little bit helps!

What We Need

The funds I receive for this film will go towards lodging, transportation, the renting of the llamas and their trainer, and food, all of which are integral parts of the making of this film. I'll need about $5300 for lodging (where our crew will stay) and food , $2,200 for the live animal rental (yes, we're using a real llama), $2,500 for transportation.

The Impact

This story is reminiscent of all our experiences as a child and parent or sibling. The time when one birthday can make an impact on your child's perception of you as a parent. So you'd rush to the toy store after work before it closes, wait in a line for two hours to meet their celebrity crush, or bring home that long awaited puppy.  Or the feeling of being in the shadow of a sibling and will go lengths to be recognized and appreciated. Although these moments don't last long, their effect ripples long past adolescence and into adulthood. Those formative years become such a huge part of how we interact with our family and vice a versa. Through this film I revisit my own childhood and I hope by helping me create my vision on screen, you will revisit some of the dramatic and often comedic moments of your own.

The greatest challenge is obvious: how will I obtain these live animals and an onsite trainer. Fortunately I have the support of a crew of producers to help me overcome these challenges. Through the hard work of my producing team we have found a llama and trainer through Animal Actors, that will come on set to work with us.

We've also been given free access to all three of our locations. The final steps are getting our crew out there, with a place to stay, and putting a payment down to secure our llama.
