What is the project?The
Developing Nations Entrepreneurship Showcase is the final step in the
Change the World Internships initiative, a global partnership whose goal is to train young leaders, promote sustainable development, and create new jobs in local communities. Before the Showcase, these young entrepreneurs have already been through a rigorous, life-changing training program, including:
1) Creating and submitting a comprehensive proposal for a social or business entrepreneurship that creates jobs in local communities and makes a difference in their society
2) If accepted into the initiative, attending a bootcamp and getting trained in leadership and business skills
3) Completing the
Change the World Internship, a 4-month virtual internship which includes mentoring to take their ideas to the next level by creating an action plan and working with leading entrepreneurs to refine and implement their business goals. This involves online training, speaking with potential customers to validate their business model, final revisions, creating a working proof of concept, and finally, pitching their initiative to a panel of judges (all seasoned entrepreneurs).
2 teams from the Caribbean and 2 from India have been chosen as the winners of this initiative.
The prize: Coming to the U.S. in October to showcase their work at the U.N. and in Washington, D.C. at the Developing Nations Entrepreneurship Showcase.Why is this important?
There are 73 million young men and women around the world who are unemployed — especially in the developing world. Empowering a person with the skills and training needed to lead their community and create work opportunities can completely transform their own lives, and the lives of those around them.
Who We Are
Driven by our passion and purpose, the teams of A Million for A Billion (1M1B) and the Global Leadership Coalition (GLC) have come together to pilot CHANGE THE WORLD INTERNSHIPS.
Rather than outside 'experts' coming into communities with often
ineffective, surface solutions, we are engaging the local community to
solve their own problems and generate employment.
The core team members of the
Change the World Internships are a group
of diverse and dedicated game changers, several of whom have left full-time corporate jobs to pursue their passion and purpose in making a difference for others. We have experience and expertise in business, entrepreneurship, social innovation, healthcare, international development, multilateral engagement, communication, education, music, media and journalism. We are united in our belief that the world functions holistically, and that collectively people — and especially youth and women — have the power to act and create our future.

What is our goal?We Need $36,000 to make this happen. We have invested our time and resources to get the Entrepreneurship Challenge initiative to this stage, and now we need you for the final push. The money we are raising will enable the finalists to come to New York in October to showcase their solutions at the U.N., and to Washington D.C. if we reach our stretch goal.
Where does the money go?The sum total of $36,000 goes directly to fund travel, hotel, and meals for a 3-day trip to New York for 12 people — 8 entrepreneurs and 4 country program managers. This breaks down to:
• $4,000 per person for 6 people from India, including 4 Entrepreneurs and 2 Program Managers;
• $3,000 per person for 3 people from the Caribbean, including 2 Entrepreneurs and 1 Support Staff;
• $1,000 per person for 3 people from US, including 2 Entrepreneurs and 1 Program Manager.
Stretch goalsStretch Goal 1: Trip to Washington, D.C.With an additional $18,000 we will extend the trip by 2 days and take the teams to
Washington, D.C., where they will be given an opportunity to present their businesses to various multilateral and bilateral organizations, government officials, investors, and venture capitalists at a special event hosted by Washington, D.C.- based investor group DC ArchAngels.
Stretch Goal 2: Marketing & Promotion of Project Success
An additional $18,000 will give us the funding to document the project including creating videos, case studies and brochures, which will be used to promote the organization as we move into our 2016 program.
