About Us

With the motto “Everyone Plays”, AppA11y’s goal is to level the playing field by linking the visually impaired and sighted communities through fun and exciting social games. We are an indie game studio based in Northern California with a history of making awesome accessible mobile games.

This campaign will allow us to take our most popular game, Dice World, to the next level and deploy it on Alexa where users can play hands-free. Dice World is a fun social game with six dice games:

• Yatzy           
• Farkle           
• Pig
• Balut           
• Threes           
• 1-4-24

Why?

"Thanks for including us" were the words from our users that launched this project aimed at bringing Dice World Audio on Alexa to the 280 million visually impaired around the world. The visually impaired like to play games just like everyone else, but the problem is their options are very limited. While there are some games designed for the visually impaired, most are simplistic with limited functionally and designed with only the visually impaired in mind.

Our games allow the visually impaired to play with their sighted friends and family without either knowing the difference. We level the playing field making the visually impaired part of the gaming social community.

Dice world has received a lot of positive feedback and lately our users are requesting Alexa games. With your help we can deploy the two time AppleVis game of the year, Dice World on Alexa. This campaign would give us the resources to create a whole new gaming experience on Alexa for both the visually impaired and their sighted friends and family.

Impact

The impact to both us and our users will be huge. Many of our visually impaired users have shared how sound controlled devices have changed their lives for the better. Those conversations often end with the question, "When are you guys going to Alexa?". The truth is, it has been on our roadmap for some time. We have started setting up the framework, but the project has stalled due to resource constraints. Launching new products requires a substantial amount of time and money. This campaign will allow us to hire the staff required to make hands-free game play a reality for the visually impaired.

We have a history of creating fun accessible games on budget and on time. We have a plan in place and are ready to execute it. This project has us super excited  and we cannot wait to give the millions of visually impaired a new and fun way to play games! And while we do everything with the visually impaired in mind, who wouldn't want to play Dice World hands-free?

In short, we need funding. We have started this project, but need 2 additional developers to help us get it across the finish line. Once we reach our campaign goal we plan on releasing on Alexa in less than 90 days.
