New album SKIN HUNGER

Welcome to our campaign. We are raising funds for the independent production and release of our new CD album Skin Hunger.

The story.

Once upon a time the stars aligned in the shape of a blazing trident, and three lovable misfit rogues of the London underground rock scene converged with a shared intention to form a band that would remain original, authentic, transformational and true.

Over 5 critically acclaimed albums our unique sound and style was forged. We traveled the world, like modern day pirates, playing with the likes of Wednesday 13, Eyes Set to Kill, Mindless Self Indulgence, Ill Nino, Drowning Pool, My Ruin, and many more. We experienced highs and lows, victories and tragedies, continued to grow and express it all through our passion, our music. In 2016 drummer Al Fletcher was taken from us by sepsis, leaving us with hearts shattered, and questioning what the future held. Somehow we tentatively found a way forward by writing- which I think it is our oxygen- and out of the dark a knight with shining cymbals emerged. With Justin Bennett (Skinny Puppy/ Thrill Kill Kult) we completed our last album, One Bullet From Paradise, with a successful Pledge campaign funding it. 

The material of our new album, Skin hunger, reflects our emergence beyond the challenges of the pandemic, into a new kind of light, a changed world where technology has taken an unprecedented leap forward. The times are asking us to transform, highlighting how we relate and what is out of balance. Everyone will relate to the human aspect of the songwriting. I took pandemic times as an opportunity to go inward and deepen my yogic sensibilities. That lead me to a calling to be of service in my community, and a year and a half of working with Alzheimer's sufferers. Their vulnerable condition drew a confronting parallel for me with the increasing mental health issues of younger generations, experiencing isolation, touch deprivation and depression in the increasingly tech-centric world of social media. It affects us all.  As much as we are wired to need physical touch, we require connection on every level, mental, emotional, spiritual… to help each other be present enough to navigate life with a doom shadow of world conflict cast over it. Let yourself be touched by this beautiful expansive, probing, honest and engaging collection of tracks. Our hope is for this album to reestablish the band and propel us forward with renewed energy, into a new paradigm, open to new touring and creative possibilities.

Campaign Goal 5k

We’re keeping things simple with an achievable target sum of 5k, and whatever we make will go toward the birth of this new album, the production and promotion, along with accompanying shirts and the perk items offered below. The release of the album will go ahead come what may, but the icing on the cake would be if we are able complete the CD production, recoup what we’ve already put into the project, and inject more into promotion, upcoming releases and touring too! 

If you’re curious, a budget for an album, artwork, merch, and marketing typically ranges from 50-100k, normally fronted by a band's label, which they must pay back through album sales and touring. We are taking the more challenging path of releasing our music independently on our label Vorvolaka, making us solely responsible for funding, making every detail come together, and promotion. It is a lot! But it gives us complete creative control, and we choose this because our ethos and messaging remains undiluted and free. I get to be my whole self and use all my skills as an artist, film maker, writer, and performer, which I love, and that’s not even mentioning the admin and managerial stuff. Getting to do all this WITH YOU is rewarding, and SO MUCH FUN!!!

Manufacture of cd. Production of artwork booklet and cover art. Design of merch items, stickers, art cards, shirts, and their manufacture. Shipping materials. Upcoming single art and videos, locations, photography equipment, crew. Tour budget-rehearsals, travel- vehicle, driver, gas, rooms, crew, food, equipment, promotion, tour merch.  Now breathe..
