The "One size fits all" approach rarely truly works. We believe that everyone- from the average Joe to power users - should have the ability to customize their gadgets just the way they want them without ever picking up a drill or an axe. We approached the user experience with DIMPLE with the following principles in mind:

Customization should not be intimidating or difficult. This is why we designed DIMPLE to be quick to set up and use right out of the box. The companion app user interface is incredibly easy to understand, even though it packs a lot of advanced features. Application of DIMPLE is super easy, and you have a thingy called "training wheels" to try and feel the best location to apply the dimple. If you have ever applied a sticker without burning a house down, you will be able to apply DIMPLE. If you can use a smartphone, you can use DIMPLE.

Every human is built differently, though we still get to use the same gadgets. Heck, if you are left-handed, you probably sometimes think that the world has turned on you. No more. You can apply the DIMPLE sticker in practically unlimited positions in close proximity to the NFC antenna of your device. For most gadgets, this means all of the rear side; for tablets and phablets- just a part of the rear side. The DIMPLE offers tactile feedback- hear a "click" on every push of a button in addition to haptic feedback. Every button has a patented groove around it with a braille dimple in the middle. Your fingers will be able to distinct each button in any situation.

Functionality means different things to different people. So we did not want to design a rigid one-solution-fits-everyone product. Instead we spent many months in the dark actually developing an application that will never be finished in a sense of constant evolution. The Beta, which will suit every need of the average user, is already online. We are now working closely with numerous partners to bring a small ecosystem of third party plugins and integrations into some of the world's coolest apps when the product ships.
Don't want to write code? Create some unique Tasker tasks and tie them to our companion app.

We have been working on this product for the past 18 months and have gone through 12 iterations of prototypes. We feel like we are ready for the market with the current iteration.

We have manufactured the first mass-production test batch of 250 DIMPLE Beta units. We are trying to address some assembly scaling problems and combat some unwanted adhesive defects.

Will it work with my device?
Based on our approximations there are currently around 800 devices with which the DIMPLE will work. This sadly excludes HTC One (M7 & M8) because of its metal body. Creating a device out of metal usually requires the engineers to make some sacrifices in terms of antenna location and affects our customers' ability to position DIMPLE ergonomically on a HTC One. So, if your device runs Android 4.0 and above, is not made out of metal, and has NFC technology, you are safe to assume that DIMPLE will work with it.
No HTC One?
Designing a metal body forces engineers to get creative. The result of this creativity is that the NFC antenna is located around the camera ring. You would have to sacrifice the camera to make the DIMPLE work. No cases or covers will solve this.
Can it be reused?
Even though the adhesive used allows for easy removal, each time you remove a DIMPLE from your device's surface, the adhesive properties will deteriorate and that may compromise the longevity of the DIMPLE. You should be fine for at least 5-10 attachments and removals. After that, the DIMPLE may not stick to the surface as well as when it was new. We are exploring options to use adhesive that can be reused as many times as you want, without compromising the thinness of DIMPLE.
Where can I put it?
In close proximity to the NFC antenna of the device. For most gadgets, it means the rear side of the device. For tablets, it means a part of the rear side.
The only gadget we have yet found to play well with DIMPLE on the front is the Sony Z2 Tablet.
The maximum range (like a really thick case) of how far you can locate the DIMPLE from the reader antenna is around 5 cm (2 in).
How about battery life?
Latest generation NFC reader chips embedded in our gadgets will consume little to no noticeable amounts of your device's battery life. Keeping NFC on should not take away more than 5 minutes of your daily battery life.
How big is it?
49 x 16 x 0.49 mm or 1.92 x 0.66 x 0.019 inches.
Can I use other NFC devices with DIMPLE on my device?
Yes.
Will it work with the screen off?
Currently, due to security concerns, this functionality is disabled in stock Android. We are working closely with the Google Android team to find a way to bring this to the next versions of the operating system. For the time being, you have to root your device and install the xposed framework.
Will it work with my case?
DIMPLE can be attached directly to your case instead of to the surface of your device. Unless the case is made out of metal, you should be fine.
How about accidental triggering?
We have engineered the buttons impossible to be pressed unintentionally. The buttons are flush with the surface of the DIMPLE.
How long will it last?
If you applied the DIMPLE carefully, the adhesive should outlast your gadget upgrade cycle. Our tests have concluded that each button can withstand about 2 million clicks, and you can reassign the functionality of around 100,000 times before the button memory wears out.
