Short Summary

The festival takes place annually in March. Housed within this Gaeltacht area, DingleIFF is proud to promote the Irish language and is the only festival offering an award for Irish script writing with it's Físín event. Dingle is home to many filmmakers, one of Ireland's only independent cinemas, is a known film location (Star Wars, Ryan's Daughter) and a major tourist destination, making it the perfect hot for out festival.
Guests to the festival have included: Maureen O’Hara, Laura Dern, Stephen Frears, Cillian Murphy, Gabriel Byrne, Jean-Jacques Beineix, Aidan Gillen, Scott Wilson, 2-time Oscar nominated director Sir Alan Parker, inventor of the Steadicam Garrett Brown, 2-time Oscar winner and sound artist Tom Johnson, 2-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple, producer Ned Dowd, and Oscar nominated actresses Sarah Miles and Saoirse Ronan.
Now in our 12th year, we are delighted to launch for the 2nd year an event aimed specifically at young creatives in the film industry to assist them in gaining knowledge of both film and television. This festival day long event entitled Dingle Pow-Wow will bring together industry leaders from Ireland and abroad to assist in the growth of film and television here in Kerry. in 2017 5 panels and 19 guest speakers came together with an audience of 80 artists against the dramatic backdrop of Ionad an Bhlascaoid Mhóir. Our guest speakers are globally recognised for their contributions to the film & television industry, bringing a new & dynamic element to the festival. Professional leaders will give their story to assist young filmmakers in achieving theirs.
We are also planning a new event this year - a FREE outdoor screening event, offering a unique cinematic experience, with the dramatic backdrop of Dingle Bay.

The Pow-Wow event will have a number of inspiring panel discussions; with actors, directors, writers and producers. The Impact
We need your support in making these extra events happen and it goes beyond what we have been able to achieve to date through traditional funding means. The Pow-Wow will help us attract and bring more filmmakers to our festival and give them the knowledge they need in finding work within the film industry. It will help involve filmmakers attending our festival in a new and rewarding way. It is essential we raise funds via Indiegogo to ensure we can make this event happen. Using Indiegogo allows us to connect with a wider audience and to reach out to our many past festival attendees and guests.
Last year at the Pow-Wow we had guest speakers such as Todd Komarnicki (writer of Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood ), Jonathan Coleman (supported and developed company's film and television projects such as Sully, The Greatest Gift, Mercury 13 and Oracle Year), Looking at The Rise of American Television we had; Michael Uppendahl (director of TV shows such as Mad Men, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Legion and Daredevil), 2-time Emmy Award winner Marc Flanagan along with Hollywood writer, Daphne Pollon and Hollywood editor, Leslie Tolan.

Risks & Challenges
Working in the festival sector carries risks and challenges every year. Here at Dingle IFF we have our AD Maurice Galway, now 24 years working on festivals; Jema Walsh heading up Marketing and our volunteer base of 54 individuals giving their time each year to make the festival a success. In Dingle IFF, our overarching artistic vision is to consistently bring vibrant and unique, high quality, cinematic experiences to the locality and allowing audiences to take home experiences to be remembered and cherished.
We have a strong track record of excellence and testimonials to support this vision.
Dingle IFF provides audiences with screenings in unique venues and locations, giving truly experiential opportunities. These include:
- The Phoenix Cinema - one of Irelands’ only Independent cinemas;
- 200 year old St James’ Church - we transform into fully HD cinema with HD projector/lenses, fibre optic cables & state of the art sound system;
- Ionad an Bhlascaoid Mhóir - perched overlooking the Atlantic Ocean & the Blasket Islands, immersed in Irish culture and tradition, allowing screenings to take place against a breathtaking backdrop;
