After the sudden loss of her husband Pete, devoted housewife Annie Martin is forced to move from her upscale Manhattan Beach to the slums of East LA with her two children due to an apparent bankruptcy.  As she struggles to handle the shock of her new life - with the help of her overbearing sister Claire- she stumbles upon  group therapy at the community laundromat with her eccentric new neighbors.  She reluctantly finds support in these weekly meetings, coming to embrace her newly formed family of troubled dysfunctional misfits.  While the group attempts to face life's realities together seeking love and acceptance,  Annie seeks to find the truth of who Pete was - eager to return to her old privileged life.   She surprisingly finds, with the help of the group, that she herself is as changed as her new circumstances.
