Alternative Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 1991. We are renowned for award-winning LGBT production that engage an audience in a conversation relating to specific feelings and messages reflecting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gender community. We are a community of volunteers. No office or paid staff.
With the world now immersed in visual and interactive media, the performing arts have perhaps never been more relevant in communication. Dramatic productions can powerfully communicate diversity, faith, compassion, understanding and acceptance across barriers of age, race, orientation, culture, language and prejudice in a way few other mediums can.
Independent films not only communicates ideas, but also demonstrates them, touching the audience's mind and heart. That is and will always be our mission.
Dirty Secrets has been produced on the stage many times, in major cities, Including Off Broadway in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. It was also accepted the 2011 New York City Fruit Festival. The natural progression would be to bring this work to film. With that in mind, Alternative Theatre Company depends on support from the community to continue to provide the highest-quality entertainment. The budget of a first-rate professional independent Film is extraordinarily high, so we depend on our loyal individual and corporate supporters, and our extremely talented volunteers.
These stalwart members of our theatrical community have made it possible for us to present great Gay and Lesbian themed live theater to our community since 1991.
