SOLVING A REAL PROBLEM

Over the past few years, the minimalist wallet market has grown ever so extensive.

From the selection of beautifully handcrafted wallets to innovative wallets, the one thing we failed to notice was a minimalist wallet that truly excelled in coins, cash and cards accessibility.

Whilst contactless cards are popular in some countries, coins and cash are still the primary traditional form of payment in most countries around the world. 

Having seen feedback from all previous backers and our own frustrations with carrying around coins in bulky wallets for years, led to the journey of finding a solution where minimalist meets traditional.

We started with this problem.

We ended up solving it,

Disc Wallet is a throwback to the original Sony Discman and accompanying CD binders from the 1980s and 1990s which held CD-ROMs upright. Innovative for its time, the Discman revolutionised the whole industry.

We wanted to bring the same traditional principles and philosophy into our designs and hence the Disc Wallet was born to hold coins upright whilst still creating something beautiful, slim, packed with features and most importantly minimalist for the new generation.

Our eureka moment!

In a eureka moment and after buying some cardboard paper, stretch bands we created a simple prototype. After searching countlessly we came across a genuine leathermaker business and created the first set of designs that led to multiple field testings, feedback, pivots, iterations, resulting in the highest quality product that solved the problem.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

RFID Card Features:

Traditional RFID fabrics are only effective for small range frequencies.

RFID shield card has been created exclusively for backers which provides the maximum protection and blocking technology to prevent unauthorized access to personal information.

Fits easily in the Disc Wallet card slot.

Protects following types of contactless cards: All payment cards, Student IDs, Transit cards such as Oyster, ID cards, Access cards operates on frequency 13,56 MHz and Cards such as MIFARE, HID iClass, DESFire.

ISO 14443/15693 and EPC Gen1/Gen2 contactless smart card.

100% Full Grain Calf Leather Features:

We work closely with our supplier and only chose the highest quality of 100% Full Grain Calf Leather.

Features great durability and strength which can last a lifetime.

Entirely organic material.

Full-grain leather breathes and ventilates body heat away from the body, allowing them to remain cool and comfortable in summer while not becoming cold and rigid in winter.

Natural, supple, and provides a robust hand.

All wallets are traditional hand sewn with top quality stitching techniques, we are bringing back this lost art form.

PRODUCTION TIMELINE

We have completed an intensive, 6 month-long prototyping process with consistent stages of testing feedback, iterations to perfect our Disc Wallet as we move into production.

The next step is to place the order for materials and start the first production run of wallets. We will aim for early shipments making them great gifts coming towards the holiday season.

RISK AND CHALLENGES

All projects have their challenges. Because Disc Wallet is made 100% in-house we have full control of the high quality of the work performed. This allows us to keep prices down and have control over the processes involved.

Our biggest challenge is delivering on schedule however from experience, we've found that having a working prototype is not enough. In order to accurately calculate manufacturing time, a production run is needed. We've done this and planned accordingly including surveys and logistical partners. If volume overwhelms us, we have a professional post-production team on standby.

FAQ

How many cards does the Disc Wallet hold?

Disc Wallet is capable of  holding 6 - 10 cards using all compartments

Will the coins fall out?

No.

We have tried and tested all scenarios and created a durable product to withstand all times a wallet is held, front pocket, back pocket, shirt pocket, blazer pocket, upright, upside down, all different angles, the coins stay compact and well held together.

Can I put keys in the wallet?

Yes, the two stitched pockets on top of the wallet are designed to fit keys in either compartment. We have created an intuitive design with daily essentials in mind.

When do the wallets ship?

Please see the timeline noted above. We will provide your updates as we start manufacturing and packaging the wallets for shipment.

Can the wallet fit all international notes and coin sizes?

Yes, the wallet allows for tall notes and large coins from all around the world.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes! We ship worldwide. We are based in the UK and ship internationally.

Do you offer more colours?

Our initial Disc Wallet is in the Walnut Brown colour. We will be looking to add more colours in the future.

Do you offer smart trackable features?

Not in the current version. We are working with well-known suppliers at the forefront of this technology and will look to release these in the future.
