DISPLACED
We are Nidal Bukhari and Sean Trew, two friends from Modesto, California, who moved out to Los Angeles to pursue their passion for filmmaking and storytelling. Sean Trew is a current graduate student at Cal State LA and is studying Television, Film, and Theatre with an emphasis in Directing and Producing. Nidal Bukhari moved out to L.A. a few years back and has been writing, filming, and learning through experience what it means to put a project like this up. Together we've formed a team of hard working, passionate, and dedicated people to help make this vision a reality.
Displaced started as a web-series/passion project back in 2017 and has since evolved into a full fledged television series with the intention of pitching to streaming services. Our team has worked tirelessly to provide new, interesting content that will entertain any Science-Fiction, comedy lover, and all around super nerd.
What we aim to do with this crowdfunding campaign is produce a 12 minute Proof-of-Concept short that introduces our characters and gives a glimpse into the whacky universe of Displaced. This project is to be a companion piece to our written pilot and 8 episode spec-script package that we will use to shop around to streaming services.
What We Need & What You Get
In order to do any of this we need support from our community.
We aim to raise $4000 through our IndieGoGo campaign. These funds will be used toward:
- Paying essential crew members
- Various art department materials and needs
- Post special effects
- Location
- Catering to keep our cast and crew fed and happy.
But should we not meet our goal, funds will still be used to meet various needs like Art Department and Special Effects, two major components to our project.

We understand that there are a vast amount of talented artist out there equally worthy of your support. All we can say is that we are dedicated and passionate about our story and even more so about the team of people involved.

In the summer of 2018, we shot our web-series on a little to non-existent budget. Even with no money and limited resources we still put up a fun, exciting, and hilarious show. This achievement demonstrates our dedication to seeing this project through and how resourceful we can be to get over any obstacles to achieve our goal. We are tenacious, dedicated, and passionate storytellers.
Risks & Challenges
We understand that taking on any film endeavor will always have its fair share of risks and challenges. This is something we do not take lightly. Being young, independent film makers means that we have faced our fair share of challenges, however, we have also persevered through them all. We are not ones to quit, even when faced with the most difficult of tasks. The web series was made through hard work, sacrifice, and sheer resourcefulness. We may not have all the answers, but we will get the job done to the best of our ability every time.
In addition to this raw tenaciousness we are also very thorough and detailed in our preparations. We have been working for almost a year now in developing and preparing for this project. We have a team of people who specialize in a variety of skills that will be working in tandem to get this short film off the ground. With our collective efforts we believe that we can deliver a stunning, unique, and entertaining peice of work that we can all be proud of.
