Sex is for everyone.
Inspired by personal experiences, MacKenzie Peck (they/them) started Math Magazine in 2015 with just 50 copies of Issue Zero. Since then, MacKenzie (with a lot of help) has expanded the brand into a powerful community with an important mission. That mission is to make the world a better place with sex-positivity. With a sex-positive lifestyle, we can live more authentically and experience more meaningful connections.
Now more than ever we need safe spaces for meeting new people and exploring our sexuality. With our diverse, inclusive, and ethical media combined with our welcoming digital spaces and in-person events we are empowering people to live their best, most authentic lives.
Over the years we’ve been very lucky to receive the help of friends and family, interns, editors, contractors, and collaborators. Last year we put together our first Editorial Board consisting of experts in sex-education, sexual wellness, research, and sex-positivity. We have a rotating team of interns helping with day-to-day operations and new ambitious projects.
The accomplishments of Math Magazine could not be possible without the support of our community and now we have more ambitious plans than ever before!

ABOUT MATH: Math Magazine enables sex-positive experiences through radical inclusiveness, community, and high-caliber collaboration. Our flagship print magazine features explicit artwork and writing for an increasingly connected and sexually liberated world. We believe in pleasure for all.
THE NAME: We often get asked, what's with the name? What's something math and sex have in common? They are universal and essential, right? You can also think of our name as a playful misdirect, an inside joke, a secret club where everyone is welcome. Our simple cover and innocuous name has helped us get our message to as many people as possible.
THE INSPIRATION: MacKenzie was inspired to create the magazine when they found that their kinky, pleasurable, and varied sexual experiences were not represented well in media and often misunderstood by the people around them. Drawing from a background in the arts, MacKenzie was inspired to celebrate the diversity of pleasures available to us from a wide range of perspectives and interdisciplinary creative practices.
THE LAUNCH: Math Magazine began in September 2015 with only 50 copies of Issue Zero. There wasn't a launch party, just a simple website and an Instagram account (since shut down/censored). The first people to support the idea for Math Magazine are very special because they believed in something that was nothing more than a concept, a germ of an idea. They helped to make it real. Math Magazine will always honor our contributors and collaborators and prioritize the needs and values of our community. We will always work to do right by you!
FUNDRAISER
In the wake of COVID-19, many alternative and queer media outlets are shutting down, several IRL sex-positive parties will not reopen when the world does, and our opportunities for authentic connection continue to dwindle as social platforms restrict our interactions.
This is why Math Magazine is so important. We need your help to continue advocating for the power, value, and importance of sex by representing it with nuance, beauty, and inclusivity online and offline. By empowering everyone to be proud of their bodies, embrace their desires, and learn how to intimately connect with others we are creating a world full of more authentic, empathetic, connected, and happy people!
Even before 2020, there was so much pain, fear, and loneliness in the world. So many of us were feeling disconnected from our bodies, ourselves, have been exploited by corporations including but not limited to the beauty industry, body-negative wellness, and oppressive social media platforms. That pain needs to be mended. Our hatred and fear can be addressed with newfound autonomy, self-acceptance, and a willingness to listen and learn from others.
With your help, we will continue the amazing evolution of Math Magazine from a small publisher to a company that is reimagining sex on the internet and empowering people all over the world. Will you support Math Magazine in this challenging and vitally important work? Join us in making a difference today!
DONATION IMPACT
Like so many small businesses, 2020 was a tough year for us. We were forced to pause our events, typically a strong source of revenue, and because of the discriminatory practices against sex-positive businesses, we were unable to receive government relief. At the same time, the intense societal need for connection and community is stronger than ever before. We've responded to this need by starting our own Discord, hosting virtual events, and expanding our sex toy and supply products for more at-home enjoyment.
While we've overcome many setbacks, we need your help to pay off our debt from producing and distributing The Anniversary Issue of Math Magazine. Your contributions will directly impact our company’s bottom line. Every dollar you give will help us pay for our debts to our printer (who has been very kind and patient with us, thank you!) and our credit card bill. We’ve learned a lot from the struggles of 2020 and we need your help to recover and move forward stronger than before.
That’s why your contribution is so much more than just helping us pay off a credit card, your contribution is going to help us ring in a new era for Math Magazine!
We have ambitious plans and a roadmap to make it happen.
Phase One: eCommerce marketplace
We will significantly increase the types of products available on our website and update the way we get them to you.
Phase Two: sex-positive subscriptions
We will add more subscription options, new content channels, and improve your overall experience at mathmagazine.com.
Phase Three: in-person connections
Our legendary Brooklyn parties will return and we'll set-up new event hubs in L.A., Miami, and Berlin.
None of these phases will be possible until we can get this debt under control! So if you are excited about these plans, please consider helping us.
THE VALUE OF OUR WORK
We are so passionate about our sex-positive mission and the needs of our amazing diverse community. We do this work in service of you and everyone out there who wants to live authentically and invest in their sexual wellness.
Our work is unique because we are making people’s lives better with sex-positive media and safe spaces for authentic connection. We produce and curate explicit content, with an emphasis on inclusivity, ethics, and community. Our work has a significant impact on the lives of our community members. Below are some messages we've received over the years.
CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS
“This is the first time that I will be paying for porn and I feel proud of that (which is saying something, partially because I come from a really religious area that targets a lot of shame at people who queer sex/ people who watch/ engage with porn). Thank you for being a part of my sexual education/ journey in moving forward from shame and towards a more free and empowered life.”
“Love the work you do and my wife and I are so happy with what we've received so far. Still have an unopened issue we're waiting to open - probably on her birthday in a few weeks. Feels good to have people that look and have similar mindsets to us. Especially in the last year+.”
“Running a small business is tough work. Publishing is also a difficult world. You are also a pioneer in this area which I'm sure can be thrilling one moment and nerve-racking the next. I'm impressed with what you've done so far!”
“I really appreciate your commitment to education, normalization, gender fluidity, inclusivity, and such a ground-breaking publication.”

RISKS & CHALLENGES
As we launch this fundraiser campaign we are also maintaining normal Math Magazine operations. Handling both of these responsibilities is a lot for our tiny team!
A risk we face is that the amount of time we put into this fundraiser and the cost of the perks could outway the amount of money we can raise. We've taken measures to make sure this doesn't happen so we're not too worried but please keep this in mind when you're looking over the perks!
We've done our best to make sure that we've done a good job of accurately representing our work, values, and plans. If you have any questions about these details please don't hesitate to reach out to us for clarity. MacKenzie can be reached at privatebox@math-mag.com or feel free to DM us on any of our social feeds.
Thank you!
