Welcome to my campaign page to gather funds for my novel, DogKnife.

Often the struggle of young women on our city streets is over looked, certainly by the media, the law and politicians. The street life and petty criminality is often seen as the misadventure solely of men and boys. Yet DogKnife is a from-the-street story and tells it how it can be for a number of girls growing up in the UK.
I have spent years bringing the novel to the stage where it is at now: ready for publication. I wrote DogKnife in one year, between August 2007 and August 2008 and it blends autobiographical experiences with other tales I have picked up in my life so far in Nottingham. Suffice to say, lots of the violence, drugs misuse and other street stories reflect the life of myself and others around me at the end of the 20th Century.
It is a tale that asks various questions: What is justice? Is it ever right to take revenge, particularly for the most henious crimes?

I am going to be using either CreatSpace/Blurb/Lulu to print my final copies of the books, but will wait for the money to be in before I sign off with them (and it depends which one can give me a better deal per book). At the moment Lulu looks like the best deal, but CreatSpace is linked to Amazon and Kindle, so in some ways it could be better. This decision will be finalised once the funds are in.
I will not be making any profit or wages from these copies, these will be your copies, going to you for funding the project. And any amount you can spare will be enough to receive a thank you in the book, printed with your name and location.
There are various perks on offer for your contribution to this exciting novel and you can view them on this campaign page.
£100 of the money raised is to cover the final editing fee, which I need to give the editor for the work they have already done. Please note this amount should have been much higher, but I received a discount as the editor believes in the strength of the novel (and also gave me a mates-rates, which helped).
£50 of the money is to cover the artist fee for a drawing to be used on the front cover of the novel.
The rest of the money is to cover the Indiegogo.com fees and the actual printing and delivery costs of the finished books.
This novel absolutely has to be in print, it is ready to launch, raring to go! In order that people everywhere can read about the struggles and survival of a group of unique characters, all girls, and set on the streets of Nottingham, please help to fund this book in to print.
Please share this campaign with anyone you think can help with the funding or with the spreading of the word.
Thank you!
