Like every good project, DOLLS is a personal one. I wrote this fantastical and highly symbolic story to help me go through a really tough time. It is based on my experience but goes over the boundaries of the individual. You might think “why should I care?”. Because Doll is you and you are Doll. We all share the same universal journey in seek of Love.
DOLLS is an ambitious short film with a very strong distinctive style. It combines stop motion animation and actors; with Victorian England inspired colours; costumes and characters.
The core idea will develop in to art work; music score; web site; internet comic strip and site specific live performance/installation. It will also be entered in to the European and International Film circuit.
The story is about the adventures of a human doll and her companions, three Teddies. Doll lives with them in an old Victorian house, isolated from the world. One day, she receives a mysterious note through the post and despite the attempts of the Teddies to stop her, she decides to leave the house, seeking what promised in the letter (still unknown to the audience). The magical outside world is menacing and dangerous (shadowy figures wandering the pebbled streets; an old beggar; a boy that turns in to a crow and a golden beach). The magical quest will bring Doll and the Teddies to their death, revealing the content of the letter, “Love is like the sea”.
I am a practitioner that works at professional standards and strives for quality and innovation. I’m very proud to say I’ve managed to put together a team of professional artists that are contributing with amazing work (from concept art to music; from web design to puppet making).
I’ve realised that to meet the standards we want I cannot keep funding DOLLS on my own. I have been investigating finacial opportunities at funding bodies like Screen South; Mediadesk; Britfilms and Filmcentre without luck. The money raised will cover crew/team/cast contribution of £25 a day; food and travel expenses; puppet making and animation; costumes and props; distribution and festival entries.

This is an opportunity for you to be part of an inspiring, magical and very ambitious project at its beginning. If you love good films help one become reality; improving the current standards; inspiring people.
