My name is Donald Hunt. I'm a
singer-songwriter (and recent Berklee College of Music graduate) preparing to
record my debut album entitled “Life Or Imagination”. The album is to be
recorded in January 2014.
The album will contain 13 songs consisting
of nine original songs and four jazz standards of which include “Shiny
Stockings”, “I’ll Get By”, “Love Dance” and “Lush Life. The album’s
musical styles are very diverse with swing, Latin swing, Argentine tango,
bolero, bossanova, straight 8ths, gypsy jazz and ballads all being
representative.
Nik Rodewald and I serve as the album’s
producers with Nik also engineering each track. This special project will
feature the Grammy award-winning Turtle Island Quartet as well as some of
Nashville’s most seasoned musicians. Cedric Hanriot will write the string
arrangements for the Turtle Island Quartet.
Above, you will find two live
performances of "Will You?" and "Savor the Now, Forget the
Rest". These two tracks will appear on the album and are written by Nik
Rodewald and myself! You can also visit my official website at www.donaldhuntmusic.com
to get a taste of what to expect on the album!
At the age of 21,
saxophonist/engineer/producer/composer Nik Rodewald’s musical journey is
one that spans numerous facets of the music world, and continues to
expand to new genres and new musical possibilities.
Rodewald made
his debut as a saxophonist at the age of 16, performing with the
Merchants of Cool Big Band in Columbia, TN. Shortly thereafter,
Rodewald would begin gigging around the Nashville area with his quartet,
The Goodburgers, and at the age of 18, Rodewald began working with
Grammy-Award-Winning engineer/producer/keyboardist Kevin McKendree
(Brian Setzer, Delbert McClinton, John Oates) at his Rock House
Recording Studio in Franklin, TN, where Rodewald has worked as an
engineer for a number of blues legends including Reese Wynans, Tom
Hambridge, Anson Funderburgh, and many more.
Since entering the
prestigious Berklee College of Music, Rodewald has begun focusing on
composing and songwriting, studying with Ayn Inserto and Dick Lowell.
Rodewald’s compositions include jazz tunes, big band arrangements,
duets, choral music, and Sacred Music.
Rodewald has also been an
in-demand session player at Berklee, and his saxophone playing has
found it’s way onto jazz, funk, indie-rock, and pop recordings, and his
flute onto film scores. In November of 2011, Rodewald was selected as a
member of the house band at the National Catholic Youth Conference in
Indianapolis, IN, under the direction of Grammy and Dove winning artist
Tom Booth. As a saxophonist and percussionist, Rodewald backed up a
number of the top artists in the Contemporary Catholic genre, including
Booth, Steve Angrisano, ValLimar Jansen, Sarah Hart, and many others.
At Berklee, Rodewald has studied saxophone performance with Harry
Skoler, Shannon LeClaire, and Dino Govoni.
Rodewald also works as
a contributing writer for Blues Rock Review, and a staff writer for the
Berklee Jazz Community, writing to promote jazz and the Berklee High
School Jazz Festival. Rodewald will graduate from Berklee with degrees
in Performance and Jazz Composition in May 2015.
Cedric Hanriot- String Arranger
Cedric Hanriot would generally be considered
a latecomer to the world of music. After earning his Master’s Degree in
Electronics & Digital Audio Processing at the age of 21, his life took an
unexpected turn as he sat at the piano for the first time in his life. Then at
this late age of 21 years old, he started studying music and playing the piano.
Within only a few years, Fulbright
recipient, French pianist pianist, composer, producer and arranger Cedric
Hanriot has performed and recorded with luminaries such as drummer Terri Lyne
Carrington, bass player John Patitucci, bass player/singer Me’shell
Ndegeocello, drummer Cindy Blackman, saxophonist Joe Lovano, and Grammy Awards
winning singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.
Cedric Hanriot has appeared at many
prestigious performance venues worldwide including The Iridium New York (USA),
the Vancouver International Jazz Festival (Canada), the Tanglewood
International Jazz Festival (USA), the Universal Exposition 2010 (Shanghai,
China) and the Jazz a Vienne Festival (F). Mr. Hanriot has also appeared
at La Defense Jazz Festival Paris (F), Transe-Atlantique Festival (Morocco), at
the famous NPR radio Talk Show “Says you” and the Victoria Jazz Festival
(Canada).
Besides a Fulbright grant, Hanriot has
won major composition and solo prizes throughout the world including the Jazz
at St Germain Festival, International Jazz Soloist Contest in Monaco and
Enghien les Bains Festival. He has won the prestigious French-American Arthur
King Peters Memorial Grant, the Mary Jane Earnhart Ellison Endowed Scholarship
as well as scholarships to Berklee College of Music, Boston (USA).
Cedric Hanriot has studied with
world-class artists such as Danilo Perez, Greg Osby, Jean Michel Pilc, Joe
Lovano, Hal Crook.
Mr. Hanriot holds a Masters Degree in
Electronic Engineering and Audio Signal Processing from the University of
Nancy, France and a Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music,
Boston (USA).
