We are Double Blind Surprise. We are here to be your magical gifting elves and to turn you into everyone's favorite gift-giver! With us, you'll never again have to see that "Oh, uh, thank you..." forced smile on your nephew's face when he opens your present. No, those days are in the past. We'll take on the stress; you get all the glory.
Adrienne Cook, our founder and Head Surpriser, is a mother, a fighter, and an artist herself with a Master's Degree in Fine Art. Throughout her time in school and in her art-world navigating life, she has been able to make connections with all manner of supremely talented and tireless artists who make awesome goods that you need to know about. Adrienne has always had a knack for giving personalized gifts and has developed this particular model of mutual surprise to bring that knowledge and skill to as many people as possible. Sharing is caring and she thinks you're great.
With your help, we can grow this idea to a wonderful reality where it's as fun to give a gift as it is to receive one, where artists can be artists and make everything a little bit sparklier, and a present is so much more than an obligation.
What We Need & What You Get
With the aid of your generous backing, we’ll be able to first and foremost expand the stockpile of goods from our stable of 75+ affiliated artists, creatives, and makers to better laser-target your gift-ee’s most perfect gift.
Our maker cohorts reside all over the world, with a wide variety of goods—and with increased capital to stock up on the best stuff, we’ll be better able to select, send out, and solve your gift-giving problems. After padding our inventory, we plan to use our gains in support of work with our partner artists/makers to produce a series of Double Blind Surprise exclusive goods for gifts, special events, and holidays --just like the ones made fresh for backers of the first two levels of this campaign!
Everything we do and everything we are is here for the support of creatives, their endeavors, and all of us having fun while getting it done! We want Double Blind Surprise to be a platform where artists can grow their community and be seen by new people, and people can find new artists and makers they love!
The Impact
Remember when there was nothing more exciting than opening presents at your birthday party? Why did that stop? Because we're taller and busier and boring now? No, gifts should be just as fun as they've ever been! We're tired of gift cards and buying the same stuff as everyone else, aren't you? Why not support small businesses, discover great new makers, and laugh your face off while you do it? You may be taller but you're NOT boring. We're here to help you remember that.
Risks & Challenges
Our biggest challenge is having something in stock ready to be hand-picked for every person, every taste, and every style. We want to be able to grow to a place where we can be most confident that our goods will deliver a smile on both ends of the exchange, every. single. time. While we’ve already been hard at work, and gathered a substantial spectrum of goods, we know that it will take just a little more time, a few more big wholesale orders from our makers, and a flurry of excited social sharing from our kickoff backers to reach that place of optimum inventory and exposure.
We're always researching new makers and new products with great style and quality and we know with time and learning from you, our customers, this challenge can and will be conquered!
