Why uTandem?
Language learning, understood in modern terms, is something relatively new, something whose potential we have only grasped with globalisation and the arrival of the Internet. However, while the field of language learning is dominated by big companies, it is now time to give language learners the freedom they deserve; a freedom to choose when, where, how and with whom to learn a language. And that, exactly, is uTandem.
uTandem is a free mobile app which connects you with the people around you to learn your favourite language by doing language exchange. It gets you in touch with other language learners around you, sorted by distance, and shows you the languages they speak and the ones they want to practise. When you have found a suitable partner, you can start chatting and then arrange a place to meet and carry out your exchange session.

Apart from connecting you with other users, uTandem provides you with a list of places where you can meet up (cafés, bars, pubs, etc.), where you can learn languages with professionals (academies, language schools, etc.) and where you can find other language learners and resources (language exchange groups, language blogs, etc.). All of this in just one sleek app.

Who is behind uTandem?
uTandem is being developed by a team of 6 Spanish youngsters, between the ages of 20 and 30, with diverse educational backgrounds. We are all young, down-to-earth and hard-working and we are going to great lengths to see our dream come true.
We have been working together for over 18 months and we would love to be able to provide uTandem with all the improvements and functionality that language learners dream of. However, this will not be possible without your help.

How will the funds be invested?
Do you like what you’ve
read so far? Good! Because uTandem already exists. We would love you to
download the app for free and check it out for yourself.
So what’s this campaign
for? Well, we want to go further by improving and expanding all our services so
that uTandem becomes an essential language learning tool. Also, we want our
users’ experience to go beyond the screen of their device.
Since
we started, we have been listening to our more than 40,000 users and many other
language learners out there, and we have noted down all the changes and
improvements that people would love to see us implement. For this reason, thanks
to their feedback and our determination to improve, we are starting this
campaign. Whatever funds we raise will be invested in the following:
A. Expanding our app and web services:
•Chat
improvements to provide a communicative experience more in accordance with the
latest trends.
•Improved
internal search engine so that you can easily find language partners,
academies, language exchange groups, etc. that suit your needs.
•Implementation
of fun, useful games, rankings and other entertaining learning elements
for app users.
•New
languages to translate messages.
•Improvements
to app notifications.
•Improvements
to the server to improve uTandem’s performance.
•Improvements
to the website for businesses and partners in order to gain greater interaction
and communication between users and businesses.
•Brand
new events creation system
B. New
translations of the website and the app, making it available for more people
around the world.

Active participation of uTandem in language exchanges in each city, thus
helping our partners through sponsorship and promotion of their activities and
language exchange events.

Financing this campaign and broadcasting it so that it reaches a large audience
around the world.
We are giving away language courses and the chance to test beta versions
of the app!
To thank you for your
contribution, you will enter a raffle to win a language course; the winner will
choose the language and school from the list of partners of uTandem. You will get your ticket or
tickets by email. The number of tickets you receive will depend on the quantity
you decide to support this project with. The more you contribute, the higher
chance you will have of winning the raffle.

offering has the following features:

How can you win the language course?
You will automatically enter the raffle by contributing to this campaign.
When you receive your sticker, we invite you to take a selfie with it and upload it to Facebook with the tag #DouTandem. To do so, you can follow these steps:

Terms and Conditions of the Raffle
- The raffle for the language course will take place 15 days after this campaign ends.
- Each participant will have a number of tickets according to the quantity he or she contributed with to this campaign.
- The course will last 15 days.

The winner will decide the language of the course and the language school. The level will be agreed by the winner and the language school chosen.

Once the language, school and level have been chosen by the winner, uTandem reserves the right to decide the date and schedule of the course; always taking into account the winner’s preference as well as the school’s preference.
In any case, other expenses such as accommodation, provision, materials, transport, etc., will have to be taken care of by the winner.
The winner will be notified via email on the same day of the raffle, and the result will also be published on uTandem’s Facebook page.
The winner has 10 days, as of the day he or she is notified by email, to claim his or her prize. In order to do so, he or she will have to contact uTandem. If this does not happen, another winner will be chosen, who will be notified after another 10 days, should the first winner not claim the prize.
The stickers will be sent to the donors 2-3 days after the donation is made.
When the updates are ready, the people with access to the beta version of the new app will be notified by email. They will receive the credentials and instructions to follow.
