DREAMS OF A PROPHET: A DREAM PLAY
What if everything you're experiencing right now you've dreamt before? What if you could dream
wide awake? What if you had a dream that you would do crazy things to stop from manifesting?
-Says The Dream Jockey as he welcomes you into our world...
A world where a young, gifted, and black man named Felix discovers the true power of his dreams and the true responsibility of prophecy... Which wouldn't be such a big deal in some ancient time, in some desert somewhere... Thing is Felix is an openly gay, black male actor trying to survive in Harlem, NYC in 2014! He "woke up like this!" Not so Flawless... or is it?
What happens when a young prophet's gift takes hold in a world where secrets are exposed and truths are hidden...?

NOW, WHO AM I? WHAT IS ALL OF THIS ABOUT?
My name is Larry Powell, and I'm an actor whose entire career so far has been breathing life into the new amazing plays of others all over our great country. What I've learned most is that a play needs room to breathe, live, and grow. That the small but mighty seed of a story needs a safe and supported place to grow into the fruitful tree it is meant to be.
My brand spanking new play, DREAMS OF A PROPHET, is crying out for just that! So, like the good Father I am, I'm doing just that. I'm organizing a mini-workshop of the piece culminating in a One-Night-Only Presentation! Producing this all by myself! Sometimes you have to create a door out of thin air!
WHERE DO YOU COME IN?
I need funding to help this dream manifest into a reality. The money raised here will cover the basic costs of not only producing the first workshop presentation of DREAMS OF A PROPHET but producing it well. If you choose to donate through this campaign your money will make sure we have the following:
-stipends for all artists involved. A Cast of 8. A Director. A Music Director. And 3 amazing Background Vocalists. Stage Manager. (Almost Everyone's Salary is covered! HELP SUPPORT THE ARTISTS!)
- rehearsal and presentation space (We've Raised Enough for this! yay!)
-Printing of scripts and programs (NEED THIS!)
-Wine and Refreshment Reception (NEED THIS!)
THE PROCESS SO FAR aka Help Those Who Help Themselves...
You're hopping on a midnight train of Dreams and it's gone Express. You're not coming in on the ground level. I have already successfully thrown three, consecutive Sunday Night Reading Salons to get the play ready to go into a 29-Hour Workshop process.
What's a Reading Salon? Here's my recipe: First you lock down a generous and enthusiastic Host/Hostess that won't mind giving their living room to creativity for some hours. Then, you invite some very talented friends to come over and read your play. You encourage all participants to bring food, drinks, and dranks. You mix, you mingle, and you read the play for YOUR LIVES! It's a great way to get around having to pay for space. It's also a great way to come together as a community in the name of creativity and potluck.
A BIG THANKS TO ALL OF THE ARTISTS WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE STORY SO FAR!!!
THE PROCESS CONTINUED aka Thanking You In Advance...
Truly depends on YOU and YOUR generosity! I'm already praising you for checking out my campaign! Thanks again for coming through! And, remember, whatever you choose to give will help us immensely. Every cent counts!
You can watch the video above for more info on the play! It's pretty nice! Check it out if you haven't already!
