Story of My Book
My name is Tevin Williams and I am the author of “Driven to Do: Inspiring Stories of Minority Millennials and the Future of America.” I wrote this book because I believe that these stories are truly inspiring. The “Minority Millennial“generation is truly helping to shape the fabric of our country and their stories are a must for all members of our society.
My book tackles those issues that can cause difficult discussions. What is the perception of millennials, and minorities? Lazy? Entitled? Not wanting to work hard towards their goals? Within this book are multiple examples of how minority millennials are disproving these preconceptions and also how they working to build a better America.
My hope is that, in reading this book, you will discover that minority millennials are doing incredible work across the United States, and are bettering their communities and impacting the greater good. I hope to instill the same sort of passion and excitement that I have for minority millennials in my readers. I want my readers to view this book as a tool to generate hope and faith that the future of America is in good hands.
You'll learn about the millennial generation, specifically minority millennials and how their work is impacting their individual communities and the national stage. I discuss the story of how the Black Lives Matter movement started as a grassroots effort in spite of police brutality, as well as a story from Ravi Gupta, the co-founder of The Arena, an organization that convenes, trains, and supports the next generation of candidates and campaign staff. Both sets of minority millennials are people who were activated based off of a specific instance that “called” them to the work that they do.
Stories in this chapter encompass millennials that are newly-minted politicians of the 2019 Congress freshman class. Each person expresses their challenges and what makes them endeavor to build a better tomorrow.
The final chapter encompasses the stories of friends of mine who have worked and are still working to better their own communities and also to inspire others. Stories include current law student, Candace White, and future Howard Law School student, Shardé Slaw. Both in-depth about what they have done in their communities in addition to sharing what they plan to do with their law degrees to better society.
You will love this book if you are interested in what the future of America will be in the hands of the Millennial generation. Moreover, I hope that you're inspired to action by the efforts of those you will read about.
Driven to Do: Inspiring Stories of Minority Millennials and the Future of America is a non-fiction book that doesn't just speak to millennials; It's relevant for any person, of any generation looking at minority millennials and wants to understand what real, fundamental groundwork (both local and national) ooks like for the first time.

About the Author
Tevin Williams is an aspiring Public Servant and aspiring lawyer living in New York City. He is an alumni of Valdosta State University.
Tevin decided to write this book due to the call to talk more about what the minority millennial community is doing, and also what they are working towards in the greater society and their own communities, in addition to all levels.
Being a minority himself, he felt as though this book was perfect for him since it was great to look into the lives of other minorities. Whenever you hear your story over and over again, you forget what it’s like for others to go through what they go through. This is why Tevin has continued working in the non-profit sector for almost 10 years, worked in higher education in graduate school, and also volunteered in a multitude of different capacities in his life.

Risks & Challenges
The biggest challenge with publishing a book is delivering the finished book to the backer, specifically my mailing of the book to you. I have eliminated this risk by building into the campaign the mailing and shipping costs of your signed copies to you within each pre-order tier.
The risk of delivering the pre-sale copies of my book is contingent on the publisher we use. I will be working closely with New Degree Press to make sure we get the earliest possible ship date of the signed book copy to you. We will keep all pre-sale backers up-to-date as my book hits each key milestone and publishes. You will know when the copies of my book you pre-ordered are expected to ship.
