INVISIBLE DISCO PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS
DRY RUN: Otherwise known as the Slutty Misadventures of a Type A, Twenty-Something Child of Divorce.
Hi there! My name is Lauren Quigley, I’m an NYC-Based actor/writer, and I wrote Dry Run!
I graduated in 2021 with my B.F.A in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and since then I’ve been really interested in writing a story that explored what I feel is a really unique time for my twenty-something peers and I to be coming into adulthood and exploring things like sex, love, and intimacy. Thus, Dry Run was born! (No pun intended- you’ll get that eventually).
Modern expansions on queerness, non-monogamy, and an overall departure from sex as inherently sacred have opened up a world of possibilities for how my genenration is able to live and love. But this also brings newfound questions, challenges, and emotional hardships that I have yet to see thoroughly and authentically reflected on screen.
Join my creative team and I as we attempt to shed light on the nuances of modern hookup culture, and burn the notion that a cisgender man gets an A+ in the class of sexual accountability just because he says things like “Is this good for you?“
THE STORY
Your twenties are the years when you should make mistakes and try everything. But what do you do when those mistakes have permanent consequences?
Kadie Miller is the kind of girl who rarely breaks her own rules. A young journalist with a laundry list of goals, she hardly ever finds herself indulging in things like partying, alcohol, and casual sex. But after a drunken night leaves her with a blank memory and a missed period, Kadie Is forced to retrace her steps and find out what happened during a night that may have changed her life forever.
A story about womanhood, consent, and the nuances of hookup culture, DRY RUN explores how we're supposed to keep up with the long term implications of quick dopamine hits and instant gratification.
