Hey Indiegogo, Burners and Friends of Duck Pond!

For those of you who don't know us, we are the Duck Pond, a Burning Man theme camp & dive bar serving up frosty beers and our World Famous Playa Specials every year since 2006!   We're here on Indiegogo raising funds to help us bring back the Duck Tower, our 30 foot high, 5 foot diameter lush-luring beacon of refreshing beverage goodness.

For 10 years, we've been known for lighting up Burning Man with our Early Bird Special Sunday night party, frosty beers, and our World Famous Playa Specials.  We pride ourselves on not only being prepared just a little early, so you properly celebrate your return Home after a hard day of building, driving, or whatever else it you do when you get back to the playa, but also helping to guide yourself back to Tokyo Sector (aka the 9 o'clock side) with our bright 'n shiny Duck Tower.

But we need your help!  The Duck Tower has been faithfully serving Funky Town for many, many years, and needs some help getting back to the playa.  We're asking for your help to make sure we get her into ship-shape, and making sure you have a trusty beacon to get you where you need to be.  We're raising $3,500 to purchase new materials, supplies and generally construct and transport the next generation Duck Tower, and to help fund bringing the Duck Pond back to the playa in full force for 2016.

Risks & Challenges

Ask any Burner "What can go wrong at Burning Man?" and you'll get the same answer: EVERYTHING.   Despite surviving the dust, rain and lightning, mechanical failures, theft, car accidents and more the Duck Pond has a proven track record of bringing you our highly-interactive theme camp every year.  

Our primary risks this year are having our truck rental over-booked (we almost didn't get a truck last year, despite having a reservation for over 8 months!), and being unable to complete construction of Duck Tower 2.0.  While we're being intentionally a little vague about our designs (we want to surprise you guys!), we promise the construction is straightforward, and involves the usual Burner project materials : blood, sweat, tears, steel, MIG-welders, 110v power, 300w bulbs and some cool new high-tech materials for the "skin."  Design is underway, and construction began in April.  We believe the risk of not getting our truck (which was reserved in early April) is much higher than failing to complete construction.  That said, we've got a great relationship with our new truck rental company (Fairfield Storage, ask for Nervin!), and are confident that, with your support, Duck Tower 2.0 will be a resounding success.

In the worst case, if there are any construction challenges or problems getting a truck, we will bring Duck Tower 1.0 to the playa. You know it, you love it, and it'll light your way Home.
