Short Summary

Every year, an organization called Campus on a Hill at Cornell University partners with the entire Christian community on campus to put together an outdoor Easter Sunday service and a 48 hour prayer tent leading up to that service, among other activities. It has been an incredible opportunity to let people know the true Easter message, in all of its wonder and majesty. This is our fourth year doing it and over the years, we have been able to engage thousands of students - many of whom are not believers or have never heard the gospel message before.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are currently looking to raise $2000 to cover all of the remaining costs of the weekend. It is only with your help that we will be able to put on this Easter Sunday service on 4/20/2014 and we hope that you will partner with us and the Christian ministry here at Cornell.

Please pray for us, both that He would provide the finances to cover the expenses from the weekend and that this time would open up opportunities to share the gospel message with the campus.

Our Goal

Many people come to Cornell completely unaware of the true Easter story, of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For them, Easter might simply be a series of memories about bunnies, eggs with candy, and spring time. It is our hope that by engaging the campus in this way that students would come to understand the significance of the weekend and what it means for Christians today.

What We Need

It always surprises us how expensive it is to bring an Easter Sunday service to the campus. Some of the costs that arise include:

Renting 700-800 chairs, at almost $1 apiece

Renting a stage, around $400

Electricity and other utility expenses for both the service and the prayer tent, around $300

These are just some of the expenses that we are attempting to navigate; the projected total cost of the weekend is around $3000. While we have put a lot of time and effort into planning various events on campus over the weekend, it is difficult as students to generate the funds to pay for the weekend. If you have any other questions as to where your donations would be going, please feel free to contact us at campusonahill [at] gmail [dot] com and we would be happy to provide a complete breakdown of our expenses.

Any additional funds raised go directly into an account exclusively used to fund campus-wide events just like Easter on the Quad.

The Impact

During the year, students connect with the Christian community through involvement in campus fellowships, such as Cru, InterVarsity, and Cornell Faith & Action among many others. Easter weekend is the single biggest time in which students powerfully come together as one body of believers, celebrating the good news. The Easter Sunday service in particular brings the gospel message directly to fellow Cornell students, which often leads to follow-up conversations and opportunities to speak openly about Jesus!

Every dollar that we raise goes directly towards everything that we have discussed here. We hope that you will partner with us to make this happen!
