The Project

We are working to raise funds for “Eddie,” a short film Ishaan Parmar wrote and will direct. It’s a semi-autobiographical story about his relationship with Eddie, a next-door neighbor who taught him how to skateboard. The film follows a young Ishaan’s friendship with Eddie, as Eddie mentors him and expands his perspective on the world. When Eddie moves away, a young Ishaan becomes the mentor, helping a new neighbor and passing on his knowledge. This is a personal film for him: a way to make sense of Eddie’s presence and departure from his own life.

Artist Statement

With Eddie, I hope to take my craft to a new level, creating a film that looks and feels professional. While I am proud of my films from high school, each of them reflects a more amateurish style than I would like to represent myself with as a professional filmmaker. As a college student, I believe that higher production value would make my films feel more immersive.

What We Need & What You Get

We are requesting $3000 to secure shooting locations, rent grip, electric, and camera equipment, and feed the cast and crew. We can offer you lots of unique perks, including, but not limited to, a special thanks in the credits, behind-the-scenes content, and an "Eddie" poster signed by cast & crew! Thank you so much for your generosity and support.

Other Ways You Can Help

We understand that you may not be able to contribute monetarily to the project, however there are many other ways in which you can help out! We would love if you could share our campaign among friends and family or on your social media accounts. The more exposure, the better!

The Team

Ishaan (Writer/Director):

Ishaan Parmar is a New York based filmmaker, currently studying Film Production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He’s known for his personal stories, his collaborative approach, and his strong work ethic. His short film “Pop” played in festivals including he Mill Valley Film Festival, the Urban MediaMakers Festival in Atlanta, the New Haven Film Festival, and the Santa Cruz Film Festival. “Pop” also received a Silver Award from National YoungArts Foundation. Recently, his film “Bittersweet” was selected to play at the 2019 National Film Festival for Talented Youth in Seattle.

Andrew (Producer):

Andrew Stern is a producer from Los Altos, California. He’s experienced in producing live action, animated, and commercial projects up to 30 minutes in length and $35k in budget. Last fall he produced five projects, including an animated short, two graduate films, a thesis, and a TV pilot. He is currently working as a freelance producer on four upcoming shorts. He attends NYU Tisch School of the Arts and studies in the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. In his free time he enjoys rock climbing, going to museums, and reading.

Sebastian (AD):

Sebastian began studying film at 7 years old when his mom first started bringing him to an after-school program called San Francisco Art & Film for Teens. Most of his friends have memories of Disney and Pixar, but he grew up watching gritty Italian neorealism and ponderous Swedish psychodramas. This upbringing may have cost him years in therapy, but it has also given him a thorough education in the art of cinematography and how the camera can tell a story and convey emotion. Now in his 7th year as a filmmaker, he is working steadily to develop the skills to create films like the ones that inspired him as a child. He is currently studying at Sarah Lawrence College.

Kalliopi Magnis (Associate Producer):

Kalliopi Magnis grew up making short films on iMovie and Photo Booth. In Middle School, she joined the WNS Film Festival team, organizing the festival each year and creating and submitting her own films as well. The rest was history. In middle and high school, she continued developing her craft, learning valuable lessons about both producing and assistant directing; she was also on the Westlix Film Festival judging committee throughout her later years. She is currently studying Film & TV Production at NYU and hopes to start her own production company after graduation. Through her artistic work, Kalliopi strives to tell developed stories that explore the depth and complication of the human condition and have a socially-relevant underlying message. In her free time, Kalliopi enjoys reading, painting, playing jazz guitar, and walking her dog.
