EDGE OF WRONG // a documentary about a festival and a way of
life where mistakes are glorified not criticized.

GIVE ME YOUR MONEY,
PUNK!
I want to stress that it’s not me who’s getting your money, but my project. If you don’t like it, I fully expect you not to support it. If you do like it, read on, and I hope you’d want to consider making a contribution so this project can go from being hypothetical to less than hypothetical.
And my name is Gøthe, and I am the creator of this crowdfunding, and later, this film. I work for Felles Film as a documentarist, but reality is as we know, only a Rorschach ink-blot.
WHAT’S WRONG?!
One day, when my girlfriend and I walked around in the streets of Oslo, we met an old teacher of hers. He had light brown eyes, with a tinge of red in it. Later, I told my girlfriend that I thought that he had incredibly beautiful eyes and they might have been the prettiest I’ve seen. «What about mine?» she said. When I replied «meh,» it was obviously not the answer she was looking for. Since then, I’ve many times, whether it applies wood, life choices, art and especially her eyes, tried to explain how I need an imprint of mistakes in things, to find them fascinating.
I’ve never been wowed by the perfect. It’s so boring, unattainable and predictable. You may call it a first world problem, but I think the yearning to make everything perfect destroys the playfulness and pleasure in so many things. Reality-TV is flooded by people who are judged by how perfect their performance are and any fault at all can send them on their way back home. Then they’re sitting by the numbers in their living room, knowing that they wasted their chance by making mistakes. I think that’s, ironically, wrong. I think we should learn to love these dimwitted emotional naked people, and all their stupid mistakes.

YOU’RE RIGHT! BUT HOW DO WE FIX THIS?!
Amid in all this myriad I found Morten. He is the personification of experimental music, so he made a festival in the city where he lived at that time, Cape Town in South Africa. Where I get paranoid of not knowing how the queue-culture in Gothenburgs amusement park, Liseberg, he sets up a festival, on an impulse, in another hemisphere. He didn’t even know how. I just assume he began running before he began to crawl as a baby and only saw the bruises as a sign of progress. Morten learns by failing. Where others begin humbly and climbs gracefully on top of a giants shoulder to see far, Morten already grew that size himself. But he stands on a pile of mistakes. And I seriously doubt if he can recognize an obstacle as an obstacle. And it’s through his love and brainchild, Edge of Wrong, failing, is delightfully permeated. A garden weed child like that, is it impossible not to make a film about.
Steadily, the festival has made with community spirit and scraps since 2006. The first year, Morten forgot to renew his visa, so he had to go back to Norway the day before the festival began. He heard rumors that it was a success, se he thought he might try again. Since that, both Norway and South Africa (also Iceland) has become a part of the Edge of Wrong each year. And it has now been completet sixteen times.
But common for the 15-ish times the festival has been conducted is that it has evolved to become a forum for experimental and exploratory art forms, all of which present the answers to questions you never knew existed.
OKAY? I SAW SOMETHING ABOUT A MOVIE?
Of course my wee little friend! This will be the crowning of the imperfect work. We will create our very own documentary, completely based on this universe and its thoughts. About just letting go and be allowed to make mistakes. To show Morten in situations where he constantly puts himself in a position in which he makes mistakes. Or, more correctly, I will show the universe and sphere he has created for everyone who participate in one way or another (in South Africa), where errors are not criticized, but praised. We shall create a thirty minute film, which will be the counterweight to criticism of mistakes, not by criticizing them, or using too many commas, but showing another way. It will be built around the process and results of the festival Morten has given birth to. And show the dream he wants it to be, versus to what it is, and becomes.
We will follow the sounds, objects, people, crowd and atmosphere that creates the innocent naked little hubris-dream that is Edge of Wrong.
But I need help to get me and a sound engineer down there so we can be allowed to be the counterweight. For neither indie-film or experimental music is overflowing with money. Financially, we struggled just to get us down to locations in the pilot.

BUT IF I CAN’T DANCE, IT’S NOT MY REVOLUTION!
But it is your revolution! It is the black sheep of music who makes a path for the rest of the gang. It is exploratory arts that creates new commercial content. It is the experimental and stupid that creates the new wine. Do you understand? All right, okay. Look at Benjamin Franklin:
(I just remembered that I can't use the picture because I'd have to buy the rights... Can you just google "benjamin franklin kite cartoon?")
Look how stupid he looks. Lille dimwitted Benjamin with his little dimwitted kite. And it is such, seemingly foolish ideas which creates the future. We need someone with both courage and abilities to do the silly stuff. Yes, Edge of Wrong-guys do not go around in lab-coats and presents their results for other people in lab-coats. But it creates a start for inspiration and ideas for the future. Even rock and roll were considered strange at one time.
CLEVER SEGWAY-HEADER
Apropos film company, we probably should present them as well. The documentary is a project developed by FELLES FILM AS. A small film-production company, just a metro ride out of Oslo built on low budgets and high ambitions. With films like Maria vs. Maria, a film about anxiety, Felles Film showed their desire to make the world a little better by creating content and quality, rather then futile enormous productions without meaningful content which in a best case scenario creates a fast-food experience. With Edge of Wrong Felles Film want to be a clear counterweight to righteousness, perfectionism and (insert third thing here).
WHY DO YOU NEED MY MONEY?
It's because you want this to become a reality. I'll be honest enough to say that this project will get created either way. Whether it’d be through Skype or random cell-phone footage. But I want it to get the means and attention it deserves, so I need to go down there myself and at least bring one sound person along to help me.
MY POCKETS ARE Leaking!
Lord Jemini! We need to do something! So I did just as everyone else did, and made some categories you can leak into.
