Edinburgh North and Leith says Aye!

Yes Edinburgh North and Leith (YesENL) is the community campaign for a yes vote in the Scottish referendum on 18 September 2014. We’ve been campaigning hard for two years now but this summer is the critical time.

We intend to speak to as many people as we possibly can, building on the great response we have had so far and the data we’ve gathered, showing that we can win a Yes vote here and move Scotland into independence.

We’re a true cross-party and no-party campaign with people from all backgrounds, people who live and work in the north of Edinburgh, who have given up hours and hours of time to get the message out to the people of our neighbourhoods.

With your help we can increase the work we do, create a message relevant to voters here and win the referendum campaign in Edinburgh North and Leith.

What We Need 

We’re looking to raise £5,000 to fund on-the-ground campaigning like it has never been seen before. We’ll open a shop to give seven days a week presence. We’ll create targeted campaign materials for the communities around us. We’ll stage a high profile community event on iconic Leith Walk. We’ll undertake telephone and face-to-face canvassing at an unprecedented level. We’ll build the campaign as we get closer to Referendum Day and we’ll work as we’ve never worked before. With your help we can do it.

The Impact

Leith and North Edinburgh are traditional Labour-voting areas with both a Labour MP at Westminster and MSP at Holyrood. But the people who have traditionally voted Labour are now thinking ‘Yes’. Our canvassing shows a steady move to supporting independence for Scotland. If we can win in Edinburgh North and Leith we can be confident about winning anywhere across the country.

We know that the move to Yes is happening because people are talking about independence and what it means for their community. This is why it is so important to increase the work rate, have more conversations, share more relevant, targeted materials – telling the story of Yes to our friends and neighbours.
