WHAT YOU WILL GET IN RETURN FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION

We’ve set up various perks as a thank you for your contributions which will help make our IFS installation a reality. We’ve asked the children at Tawasol to sign each individual flower they’ve made - And we are offering to send a flower for each $20 contribution. Tawasol are also making us handmade keychain Egyptian folklore dolls, which we will send for every $25 donation.

SabryMarouf have created limited edition Scarab pendants available in Gold-plated brass, Black Gunmetal, and Sterling Silver, for every $125, $150, and $300 contribution, respectively. Scroll down for more pictures!

A CONTEMPORARY REBIRTH

For the first time Egypt is participating at the IFS -International Fashion Showcase in association with London Fashion Week, Feb 19 – 23, 2016. For Egypt’s growing fashion industry, this installation ‘Contemporary Rebirth’ celebrating Fashion Utopias, is a chance to define the new, post-revolution Egyptian identity.

The following designers were endorsed to showcase by the British Council, British Fashion Council and a panel of industry experts to represent Egypt among 25 nations: Ahmed Sabry and Daki Marouf - SabryMarouf, Maram Abouleinen - Maram Paris, Nour Omar- Marsouma, Reem Jano - Reem Jano Jewelry, Sarah El Mofty - Saya.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The project is headed by Susan Sabet, Publisher & Editor-in-chief of Pashion magazine, as project curator, who in 2014 and 2015 has been voted by Business Of Fashion as one of 500 most influential people in the fashion industry. It is overseen by Daki Marouf as project manager, who is a London based strategist completing his masters degree at the London college of Fashion, and Exhibition designer Hedayat Taymour of JamSpace and founding partner of award winning design firm Eklego. The project is also made possible through a unique collaboration with Tawasol, a Cairo based NGO founded and run by Yasmina About Youssef, producing part of the installation.

The project is a collective effort, and is being made possible by donations from individuals like you and from our kind sponsors. While we have so far raised just over $6000 to cover the cost of hiring our space, we still urgently need to raise another $9000 to fully fund the project

WHERE'S THE MONEY GOING?

Here's a break down of the costs we are incurring in producing the installation:

  • Professional on-site installation of 700 paper lotus flowers  - $1,750
  • Freestanding custom made multi-panel mirror - $1,200
  • Hiring 3 Mannequins - $750
  • Hiring Plinths & Pedestals for Mannequins & Accessories - $200
  • Materials for the designers to work on the commissions for the IFS - $2500
  • Housing & Transportation for the designers in London - $1600
  • Marketing fees $1,00

WHY'S IT IMPORTANT?

It is important for our emerging designers to be part of the IFS because it serves as a stepping stone for them to the more commercial international trade shows down the road. Their exposure to industry professionals and competition allows designers to get live feedback on their product on things like price points, margins, how to adapt their collections to fit different needs. It also helps them understand their own unique selling point within the wider landscape. Remember - Investing in today's emerging designers will help reinvigorate the huge value chain in Egypt's creative industries.
