DO WE HAVE YOUR ATTENTION?  GOOD!  :)  Please read on...

Hello to everyone across this great expansion of space we have dubbed "the internet!"

We hope you enjoyed the attached first episode of a new dramatic webseries entitled Eighty-Six.  My name is Adam Starks.  My team and I, based in Los Angeles, are gearing up to continue production on the remaining episodes within the first season of this critically acclaimed show.  As co-writer, producer, and actor for this series, I am extremely excited to humbly present it before you in hopes of your charitable contribution.  With your help, we can continue a series which has already begun receiving high praises from industry professionals, the media, and the online community.

Being shot in and around Los Angeles, Eighty-Six, at heart, is a classic Greek tragedy.  Much in the vein of "Nip/Tuck,", my writing partner Francesca J. Gailes and I have weaved together a tale of murder, suspicion, and lies backdropped by the entertainment industry.  So far, episodes 1 and 2 -- which you can view at www.eightysixtheseries.com -- as well as the script for the remainder of the season has left those who have seen/read it salivating for more.  With a story as tantalizing as Eighty-Six, along with a cast and crew built with some of Hollywood's next stars, this webseries is on pace to raise the bar for content produced for the web.

A brief synopsis:  When singing sensation Tweety-La is found dead on the eve of signing a contract with a new label - Alex, Maxine, and Jaxon (the three headed monstrosity forming Casey Mac Entertainment and Tweety's current representation) are suspected of her murder.  As lies-beget-more lies, the members of Casey Mac begin to buckle under the pressure and their personal vices, jeopardizing everything they have worked for.

What Francesca and I aimed to do was tell an interesting story first, not regurgitate something from television or film's past.  Although Eighty-Six is by no way reinventing the wheel when it comes to webseries, what it is doing is making sure it stands apart from the sea of subpar minority-featured shows flooding the internet.  The caliber of talent assembled for this project is second to none.  Working together, Eighty-Six will truly be a diamond in the rough.

As African-American filmmakers, we have noticed an extreme lull in quality productions involving minorities.  With Eighty-Six, we have a predominately minority cast, crew, and production staff.  Eighty-Six will be the poster child for what happens when young, positive, and forward-thinking minority filmmakers get together in pursuit of a common goal.  Our standard is nothing but the best in storytelling, so with our webseries you won't find the stereotypical components that plague so many popular African-American projects.  This is a show where the audience, regardless of race, will be captivated.

The final episodes of the season will be composed of three, roughly ten-minute segments which will build the story, raise the conflict, and introduce additional essential characters.  The episodes will be filmed at once, but edited and distributed separately.

Our total budget is $10,500 to film the final three episodes of the season.   Once we reach our total, the funds will be used for fees associated with filming:

  • Crew fees (Cinematographer, assistant cameraman, sound, grip, gaffer, etc.)
  • Equipment fees (camera packages, lighting, sound, etc.)
  • Locations fees
  • Post production (including color correcting, and DVD reproduction)
  • Production insurance
  • Set decoration
  • Props
  • and lastly...craft services.

The film and television industry is on the cusp of a very special shift towards quality African-American projects.  Can we depend on you to assist in that shift?

If you are unable to donate to this extraordinary project, you can still help by spreading the word to any and everyone by inviting them to go to www.eightysixtheseries.com and support the show.  Episodes 1 and 2 are available.

Lets take it to the next level,

Adam
