Short Summary
Hi Friends!
My name is Victoria Himes. I am a senior at Sarah Lawrence College. Throughout my four years here I have focused most of my attention and passion on the art of filmmaking. After completing several short narratives I started to become more interested in the structural processes of filmmaking and the formulaic method of arranging the pieces into a vehicle expression. Melding narrative and experimental techniques as a form of this expression has interested me for some time, and this project will serve as the foundation for future works of a similar style.
The Film:
Every person, whether aware of them or not, is forced to confront their flaws and inherent vices every waking day. In simple terms my film is about this internal struggle. But what if this struggle were to be documented and examined for another's benefit?
The story follows the point of view of CAL (40s), a renegade fueled by a hereditary kind of rage, he spent his time cursing the days away. With the return of his jaded high school sweetheart, turned ex-wife, LIZZIE (39) he is forced to see himself for what he's become.
In another space of time and reality, beings of an unseen race rely on Cal's fragile psyche as a glimpse into the basic understanding of human emotion and expression. What starts as unobtrusive observations quickly takes a turn for the violent. Cal knows something they do not, and they will stop at nothing to extract it from him. With no one left on his side, Cal must survive them on his own.

What We Need & What You Get
Production on this film will begin Nov. 22nd in Yonkers, NY with a projected ending date of Feb 24. As most talent, locations and props can be accounted for outside the budget, most monetary necessities are planned to account for craft services (feeding hungry actors) and transportation fees such as van rental, tolls, and talent transportation to and from the city. Donations will also help secure several specialized props, costumes, makeup, and polish the set design. As a benefit of being part of the Sarah Lawrence filmmaking program the team will be shooting using the BlackMagic 4K camera, and all other equipment will be facilitated through the university.
No matter what size donation, everyone will be rewarded with a special gift from the filmmakers. This movie can't happen without all of you, and as a small token of our extreme gratitude we will have personalized gifts for everyone who feels inclined to donate.
Risks & Challenges
Filmmaking itself is almost always risky and challenging. Most often what can go wrong does and continues to go wrong throughout a shoot. This is the beauty of filmmaking. So much of what makes a movie great is the element of the unknown and that which happens out of circumstance. Every challenge presents itself as an opportunity to take what comes and make it better than what was there before. The difficult situations contribute to the achievement. No matter what pitfalls our crew may face we will come away with something we are all proud of, and can say we gave it everything we had.
