On July 19th, 2013, Elizabeth Anne Leache was leaving a friend's Seattle apartment when she was attacked by a lone assailant and beaten to within an inch of her life. Her purse and coat were taken, and she was found by neighbors as she lay bleeding with a fractured skull. The attacker was never found, and he is still on the loose in the Seattle area. I only pray that someday he gets the justice that he deserves before another young girl is brutalized.

I am Elizabeth's father. I flew into Seattle at 4 AM after the worst phone call of my life to find my beautiful daughter laying in a hospital bed, almost unrecognizable from the beating. Doctors informed us that Elizabeth was hanging on for her life, and would likely have impaired brain function because of internal bleeding and brain swelling. My heart broke into a million pieces. However, after over two months of hell, we still have hope that with the right medical care and surgeries, that Elizabeth can make a huge recovery and doctors believe she may return to have most of her cognitive function, and we are praying every night.

We need to raise enough money to pay for Elizabeth's mounting medical bills.

Elizabeth's neurosurgeon has so far been able to perform two surgeries to begin to repair her severely fractured skull, and some of the worst bruising to her brain’s frontal lobes. We have been told that although it is still too early for a full prognosis, such injuries can affect memory, thinking ability and even personality. Before the assault, Elizabeth was a smart, loving, beautiful person that cared about everyone around her and especially had a soft spot for animals, including her favorite cat Xena.

So far, hospital bills have been upward of $15,000, and we are nowhere near out of the woods. Elizabeth has been able to communicate to some degree, but she clearly is not aware of where she is most of the time, nor can she specifically remember close friends and family members by their face during at least half of her visits. She will likely require years of intensive rehabilitation, and as a single father, I just cannot afford these expenses on my own. We have been told that future costs may put us in the $30,000 to $40,000 range over the next few years. To be quite frank, no donation is too small, and every little bit helps.

We can't do it alone.

Until about two weeks ago, we had no idea what crowd funding was. So far we have received about $2,000 in donations collected at our church, and we could not be more grateful to the friends and family that have already donated. Unfortunately, without more help, we will soon be completely underwater financially. A friend turned us on to the idea of starting an Indie Go Go campaign for Elizabeth, and this is our way of reaching out and hoping for the kindness of compassionate strangers to help us reach our goal.

Please share Elizabeth's story.

Thank you so much for any help you can give.
