Okay, Emily. What is it you want?
Right to the point, eh? I like your style. So, some of you may know and some of you may not know (and to those people, I say: HOW) that I am a songwriter. I've been writing since high school, but I have gotten very serious about it in the last 6 years or so. Very. Serious. So much so that I've decided - with the help of friend and genius Michael Croiter - to record a 12-song debut album (yet-to-be-titled) with Yellow Sound Label in New York City. Which is where you come in.
If you could find it in your heart (or, let's be real, your pocket/wallet/purse/old coffee tin that acts as a piggy bank) to help make this literal dream come true, I would be eternally grateful. I am incredibly excited about this opportunity and really want to do it right. I have accumulated nearly 60 songs in the past few years and have so much to say and share. I've taken the best of the best from these 60 and narrowed it down to 12 bangin' songs that will be recorded with a full friggin' band. A portion of the funds raised will go toward paying these amazing musicians for their time and talent.
What kind of music will be on this album?
It's always hard to describe my writing, but something I landed on a while back is "contemplative piano pop." It felt really snappy and hip at the time. People have at times compared my music to the following: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds, Regina Spektor, Feist, Barry White, Luciano Pavarotti and Enya. Just kidding about those last few. My biggest personal songwriting influences have been Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles, Eva Cassidy, my friend Daniel Zaitchik, The Weepies, and so much musical theatre it'd make your dang head spin.
Are there any websites you want me to look at?
Why, sure! You could check out my website (ladyemilywalton.com) if you'd like to listen to a few underproduced demos with just me and piano. You could also check out Mike Croiter/Yellow Sound Label's website (yellowsoundlabel.com). I've worked with Mike on two previous albums: The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World (
http://yellowsoundlabel.com/album/shaggs-philos...), and Daniel Zaitchik/Blue Bottle Collection's Summer of the Soda Fountain Girls (

Anything else I need to know?
Just that I will be so gosh darn thankful if you help me make this happen.
