Enchantment Under the SDCCWe here at The San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog primarily love three things: San Diego Comic-Con, our readers, and having fun.
We've had the pleasure of being able to combine all three of those for the last two years at our annual reader party, Enchantment Under the SDCC. We hang out, play music, give away free swag, give awesome prizes, and dance the night away. It's one of our favorite things we do all year, and we hope it's one of your favorite things too.
But as anyone who has attended the event either year can probably testify, we've outgrown our current digs. Each year, we have way more readers wanting to get in than we have space for, and that means that we don't get to hang out with as many of you as we'd like.
Here's a look at the line last year, after the party was already full:
So how do we fix that? By getting a bigger venue! But because this is Comic-Con, nothing comes cheap - and in order to accommodate more of you, we are simply unable to fund the venue that we'd need without your help.
If we can somehow harness this lightning... channel it into the flux capacitor... it just might work!
You did it! Enchantment Under the SDCC is officially happening, thanks to all of you! But there's still time left to make this party even better — and we've got some ideas for how to do it that we hope you'll like!
Whoa. Wait a minute, Doc. Why does it cost this much?
The simple fact is, San Diego Comic-Con is expensive, and we all know that. We are incredibly lucky and grateful to have found Mission Brewery. They are not only an awesome venue located just a short walk from the convention center, but they're letting us have their space on Wednesday night for a very, very good price. That's where the bulk of this money is going.
The rest of the money is going towards other important things, like funder perks (t-shirts, water bottles, and more for you guys!), campaign fees, taxes, and a few other things.
If we make more than what we're asking for, every single penny will go towards the party. We don't want to make money off this event - we're just trying to cover our own costs (and even then, we're aware that we'll probably still be putting in some of our own money, and we're happy to).
We're so serious about needing this specific amount that we've set this
campaign up for fixed funding. That means that if we don't meet our goal, we don't get a dime - because we know that this dollar amount is what we need to make this the party that we, and we think our readers, want.
Here's a more exact breakdown of what your money is going towards:
So what do I get for my money?
All kinds of great stuff! We've got party tickets, t-shirts, awesome prizes, and much more!
The party will be held on
Wednesday, July 8, at Mission Brewery from 8PM-11PM (or 7PM-11PM for those with early entry), just a short walk from the convention center. Here's an inside look at the space at Mission Brewery, which we could not be more excited about:
Best of all, we're excited to announce three things:
1. For the first time ever, our event will be
ALL AGES!2. The party will have an
open bar, with unlimited beer, wine, craft cocktails, and soft drinks. Alcoholic beverages are only for 21+.
3. Also new this year, you don't have to attend our party to get our Hashtag t-shirt! We've had a lot of requests over the years for this shirt (updated for 2015!), and this campaign is the only way you'll be able to purchase this shirt outside of attending the party.
With that out of the way, let's get to the fun stuff:

I've still got questions!
How do I purchase more than one ticket?Because Indiegogo doesn't allow you to select a quantity, just choose the tier you want, and purchase one ticket/tier - then go through and repeat the process for as many tickets/tiers as you want.
How do I tell you what size t-shirt I want? We'll be sending out a survey after the campaign closes to find out shirt size.
What are these giveaways?
We give all kinds of goodies to our readers. This year's giveaways include a Hasbro FastPass to send you straight to the front of the Hasbro line (yes, really!), tickets to Walker Stalker Fan Fest and The Walking Dead Escape, and more still to be announced. Previous party giveaways have included tickets to parties and offsite events, LootCrate subscriptions, and other great prizes from companies like Symbiote Studios, Bandai, Reddit, and more. We promise that we're working hard to make this year's giveaways as awesome as ever.
What is this goodie bag?
Each attendee at the party will also receive a free goodie bag, filled with awesome swag. We're still working hard on this year's sponsors, but in the past, we've worked with companies like BOOM! Studios, GrubHub, Udon, The Hub, and many other exciting companies. We promise that we're working hard to make this year's free swag as awesome as ever.
If I buy a ticket, am I guaranteed entry into the party?Absolutely! You can show up at any time during the party hours - which means you can even go to Preview Night and head over when you're done.
Will you be selling more tickets later?Unfortunately, no. We currently have all of our available tickets up for sale in this campaign - meaning this is the only way you'll be able to attend Enchantment Under the SDCC.
What happens if you don't make your goal?
If we don't make our goal, then we don't get anything - the money is never taken from your account, and nothing happens!
What happens if you make an insane amount of money over your goal?
Every single penny that we make in this campaign will go back into the party. If we make a lot more money over our goal, that just means we'll be able to bring you an even better party!
Will I get my Hashtag t-shirt before Comic-Con?
If you purchased the standalone Hashtag t-shirt, then we feel pretty confident that we can get you the shirt before the convention. If you purchased one of the party tiers where the shirt was included, you'll be able to pick up your shirt at the actual party.
I really want the Enchantment shirt, but I don't want to come to your party.
Unfortunately, the only way to purchase the Enchantment event shirt is to buy our Great Scott! package, or one of the other packages where it is included.
What does Early Entry with the Great Scott! package get me?
You'll
get in a full hour earlier than everyone else, meaning that you've got
time to secure a table, get a drink, and relax. We'll also be doing a
few giveaways in this one hour time period, and only those with early
entry will be eligible for those.
Are tickets transferable?
Definitely! We understand that things happen, and if you don't wind up being able to attend the party, you can always give it to a friend. We'll be checking names at the door, but not IDs.
Are tickets refundable?
Unfortunately, no, tickets are non-refundable. However, if you had an issue when checking out (ie, accidentally purchased two tickets), please let us know.
Is there food? Now you're asking our kinds of questions! Mission Brewery doesn't sell food, but it is our plan to have food trucks outside.
Who's the fish guy?
That's Marty McFlyFish, obviously.
I've got another question!
That's great! You can reach us at sdcomiccon.blog@gmail.com, or on Twitter at
