WHO WE ARE
The Elisa Sednaoui Foundation curates and delivers interdisciplinary educational programs within local communities to empower and engage the next generation of problem solvers through arts, cultural exchanges and the facilitation of life skills. Programming is delivered in three forms: After-school classes, Creative Workshops and the Training of Facilitators.
With the training program, we are able to mobilise facilitators in Egypt and Italy for the After-school program and Creative Workshops. We reach 500+ children per year between the ages of 4-16. We work to strengthen the local community through the transfer and exchange of knowledge and skills. The programs are managed through close collaboration between the local, national and international team. One day, the goal is for the Centres to be self-sufficient and self-managed by the local communities.
WHAT WE NEED AND WHAT YOU'LL GET
We’ve calculated that with your support, $50k would allow us to further develop our curriculum, enhance our programing for the next two villages in need AND expand to more communities in Egypt! We want to advance our curriculum to integrate digital literacy, English classes, the Slow Food movement and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), one of the United Nation Millennium Development Goals.
We will also expand our training programmes in both Egypt and Italy and graduate more facilitators who will have a direct impact on our reach. We are focused on capacity building: strengthening the skills, competencies and abilities of people and communities to overcome obstacles in their environment in a sustainable manner.
ESF is thankful for all supporters! From Air France, Burberry, and Save the Children, to Shawn in the USA, Jennifer in Germany, or Hany and Shereen in Cairo, Egypt - Without your contributions these kids would not have access to interdisciplinary education at all. In order to show our love for your support, we’ve decided to give out very special perks with the contributions – check them out!
THE IMPACT
Access to education does not only teach academic content and specific skills, but supports young people in teaching them how to find creative solutions to life's challenges, how to make their own choices, how to live as a contributing member of local and global community or to empower them to realise their full potential. In Egypt, the communities we engage have very limited access to quality education. Creative or interdisciplinary education is completely unavailable. In fact, we are oftentimes the first experience our children have to basic art forms. Recognising the above, we are committed to continuing building effective and diverse curricula to ensure high-quality programming for great results... As we've seen the transformation!
From the son who is ‘suddenly more interested in reading’, or the daughter who ‘now has the confidence to speak up in her class’, our programs are making a difference in the lives of future decision makers of this world.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
We understand not everyone can contribute donations but still want to help. You can still play a part in our campaign by sharing us on social media and spreading the word! Indiegogo makes it easy with the share tools and we'll take notice if you use #TogetherForFuntasia.
