Hello!

We are (Women's) Chamber Choir Sireen from Estonia and we're currently recording our first album "Terra Incognita". With your help we want to bring it to new audiences!

Who is Sireen?

Sireen (Estonian for Siren) comes from Estonia, a small country in Northern Europe, known for its long choral traditions and world-class choirs. It is also the birthplace of many great composers such as Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Tõnu Kõrvits and many more who have written some absolutely incredible choir music.

Sireen is a relatively new phenomenon in the Estonian choral scene. We are a group of 20 women, who came together five years ago under the lead of young conductors Tiiu Sinipalu and Ülle Tuisk with the aim to bring some fresh air to the music scene - by singing original music from new and talented Estonian composers and cooperating with local and international musicians from other genres.

In five years we have brought choral music to new audiences by giving joint performances with punk bands and electronic music groups during Tallinn Music Week, one of Europe's leading music festivals. And we have brought music to all corners of Estonia - concert halls, rocky beaches, warehouses, museums and churches.

This autumn for our fifth birthday we want to bring new Estonian choral music to wider audience, and to you. For this we are working on our debut album "Terra Incognita".

What kind of album is "Terra Incognita"?

Our very first album will be as diverse and limitless as we aim to be in the way we make music. Possibilities of choral music are endless and "Terra Incognita" will take you on a journey to these unknown lands.

The album will have fresh original pieces from young and promising Estonian composers Sander Pehk and Maria Kõrvits, hauntingly beautiful music from acclaimed Estonian composers Tõnu Kõrvits, Lembit Veevo and choir classics from Eric Whitacre, Igor Stravinski, Knut Nystedt and more. The album will have altogether 19 tracks, including a special bonus track from our cooperation with Estonian electronic music duo Algorütmid

The quality of music and professional sound always remain a priority for us, that is why the album will be recorded and edited by true master Tanel Klesment, who has also worked on the albums of artists such as pianist Kristjan Randalu, renowned Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra etc.

Why we need your support and what you get in return?

With our own funds we have already started the recording process in a lovely Estonian church that has just great acoustics! But we still need support to cover most of the production costs: the recording and mastering of 19 tracks, fees of instrumentalists (for recording pieces by Maria Kõrvits and Eric Whitacre), producing the album (design, booklet, printing the CDs etc)

To cover these costs we aim to raise 3500$; and we know that together we can make it happen!

Since until now our main audience has been from Estonia, we are simultaneously raising money in a local crowdfunding platform Hooandja. These funds are meant to cover the expenses of album release concerts and partly also the album -  supporters will receive our album in return

Therefore, even if we don't manage to raise the expected sum here, one way or another, we would find a way to finish the project and send all our Indiegogo supporters the promised perks!

In return for your contribution we take you on a journey to quality Estonian choral music - either through a digital tracks or a CD. There are also some special perks, about which you can read on the right side.

The impact

Your contribution will help us bring quality Estonian choral music to new audiences. And we hope that this could be the beginning of something great - maybe we will soon have the possibility of holding our release concerts also abroad and sing to you live.

We highly appreciate any support. It would mean the world to us if you could spread the word about us and this project.

In case of any questions get in touch with us at kammernaiskoor@gmail.com or on our FB page Kammernaiskoor Sireen.

With love,
Sirens
