The ETIKONS

Desmond "Etika" Amofah tragically took his own life on June 19th, 2019. The Etikons are a way to honor his legacy while putting a lasting product into the hands of his fans, and raising a ton of money for mental health and suicide prevention awareness.  

The Design

The design shown is what we expect the joy-con shells to look like when complete. Please keep in mind these designs are not final and subject to change. This is a hand made mock-up, not factory made, and will likely have variations from a factory produced version. We expect that the factory produced version will not have the black and white lines wrap around the sides, and instead only have them on the front, in a similar fashion to the Smash Bros joy-cons.

We can all have an impact

While i've been making custom controllers and joy-cons for many years now, it's simply not feasible for me to take on such a large scale project on my own while donating the proceeds to charity. In order for this project to be a success, it needs to be outsourced to drastically reduce the cost (and my personal workload). 

- The joy-con shells will be manufactured in China - unless we can't find a suitable manufacturer. At this time we are still searching for the best manufacturer for the job. In the event that we are unable to find a reliable manufacturer overseas, we can complete the job right here in the USA, but this will incur additional costs and require additional time.  

- Options for pre-assembled joy-cons will be offered post campaign. Campaign backers will only receive joy-con shells to install on their own joy-cons with the campaign, unless they upgrade afterwards.

We've chosen the JED Foundation as our charity of choice for the following reasons:

-Focus on teens and young adults

-Focuses on BOTH suicide prevention awareness and mental health

-Located in NY, where Etika was from

-Rated 4 stars on Charity Navigator with a 100% accountability & transparency rating 

Pledge Options

Joy-Con Shells: 

Every pledge in this campaign is for a single set of joy-con shells. These shells must be self installed on a pair of joy-cons that you already own. Want more than one set of shells? No problem! Once you select your pledge, you'll be able to select additional shell sets as an add-on option at checkout! Each shell set comes with a left and right joy-con shell (one black and one white)

Risks & Challenges

In the event that for some reason the project cannot be completed, each and every backer will have the option for a full refund or to have their pledge donated to JED Foundation without a reward. 

Pricing and Cost Breakdown

The price of each pledge is $65. This is for one set of joy-con shells, left and right. 

Breakdown per item: 

10% (Approximately $6.50) - Indiegogo and Backerkit Fees

25% (Approximately $16.25) - Production Fees

65% (Approximately $42.25) - Charitable Donation to the JED Foundation
