Whats this about?
This campaign was started to help one of the most influential tech journalists and one of the top leakers of mobile hardware in our time.
This fund is to help Evan with Medical Costs and get him the necessary funds to be able to get healthy and return to the tech community.
Who is @evleaks aka Evan Blass?
Thanks to the efforts of Evan 'Evleaks' Blass tech fans have gotten an early look at some of the most high-profile smartphones and tablets, often months before they're officially outed.
Now, after two years of prolific tweets, many of which have spawned reports on some of the top Tech Sites, the tech journalist turned full-time leak artist has announced he's giving it all up.
Blass, who earned a reputation for accuracy with his many leaks, says he's quitting because divulging photos and spec sheets on Twitter had proved difficult to monetise.
He told The Next Web he had tried sponsored tweets, accepted donations and pushing folks towards his website, but found users had little incentive to visit after seeing his pics on Twitter and across the web.
Retirement
So, as a result of all that, Evleaks, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a decade ago, is plugging the holes and hanging up his wrench for good in search of a new career. As medical costs rise, There is just not a way to keep up.
The Impact
Evan has had a huge impact in this mobile tech space, There is no questioning that at all. Most if not all of us that do any type of TECH commentary have mentioned or used something Evan has put out via twitter on our Tech Sites.
Evan's retirement is a blow to the community and this fund is a way not only for us to say thank you for the 2 years of leaks and stories all of us have used on our sites, But also a helping hand to help Evan and his family with the mounting Medical bills that come with that.
For those that do not know Evan has been battling MS for years. Its a debilitating disease that make everyday tasks very hard to complete.
Medical costs for treatment and the medications needed just to function with the disease is astronomical.
