Short Summary
Greetings! My name is Ricardo. I have been a university Biochemistry professor, a P&G manager, an author, entrepreneur, a bamboo furniture builder, an inventor. Years ago, during a meditation session, I posed the question (to God, to my Higher Being) regarding my desire to be financially independent. The FacyLift idea came upon me. Complete. With all details, blueprints, what to do. For the last seven years, I have fought my way with the US patent office to get the patent and the trademarks all cleared. I created a company. My very capable daughter helped me with the video, and the manufacture and blueprinting of the 3D prototype. I have identified and contacted the mold manufacturer and the raw material providers. The stage is all set. With an audience of 84 million eager Baby Boomers, I just need enough money to clear the very last hurdles with the FDA and KaBoom!: the project will bootstrap itself , generating enough funds to be a self sustainable and growing business. Contributors will help me with the initial push. A snowballing effect will soon ensue. In the process, those who help me fund my project will also benefit, in turn: they will soon feel the rejuvenating effects of an instant face lifting, without the massive scarring, the down time, the huge cost of the normal procedure, and at the same time elevating their self-esteem.
What We Need & What You Get
$100k will help me order the silicone mold multi-port , as well as to purchase the very expensive medical grade silicone for the first 3,000 units, plus all expenses related to their injection, molding, sterilizing, packaging , storing and distributing. There is no other product in the (world’s!) market that does what the FacyLift (F.L.) does. Rhinus, its parent company, will start small, aiming to conquer a small % of the market. Its intended audience is comprised of 84 MM Americans. Having such large audience, and having the product no real competitors, in the improbable case that the project does not reach the desired goal, I’d still proceed to acquire the molding equipment and buy as much raw materials as to produce enough units to cover all the needs of the contributors."
The Impact
My typical contributor is a middle age professional, stable, close to retirement, with still a lot of energy, passion and wisdom to be an important part of society. Yet, he/she may feel displaced by younger executives. My contributor feels young at heart, but the passing of time has affected the skin of his/her face, leaving him/her with an annoyed or tired look. In the past, I created a successful soy flour business, starting from an idea, and bringing it to a full product execution, including all its marketing campaign, packaging, and manufacture.
Risks & Challenges
My first obstacle was to demonstrate the USPTO that my invention was a new, useful, and non-obvious invention. Five years of continuing battle with the examiners until finally getting a patent. Another year lost, in a legal battle with a foreign corporation because my chosen company name (Thorus) “resembled too much” their name (Eye of Horus). Nine years after uncountable hurdles and obstacles, the stage is finally set. Only the final clearance with the FDA remains. And even there, the odds are on my favor. If you look at the official FDA web page for Cosmetic Devices/Medical Devices, the page is empty, as if waiting for the FacyLift to show up. In addition, far cousins of my invention (such as the nose, chin and ear implants) have already been granted regulatory clearance.
