FCA's Military Appreciation project was born three years ago when Melody Schneider leaned across her desk and with fire in her eyes and passion in her soul said "we ought to make it our business to see that every man, woman and child of a deploying soldier can come to our family show for free." At the time, there was a huge, imminent deployment going on just as our family show was coming up. Our thought was that this would give them a happy family memory to take with them. Fairbanks responded and a new tradition began.
In truth, FCA has always donated tickets to the military, distributed by the Armed Services YMCA as part of our Education Partnership Campaign. We also donate tickets to social service groups like BBBS, Boys and Girls Club, Boys and Girls Home, Joel's Place, Interior Center for Non-Violent Living, Fairbanks Youth Advocates, Presbyterian House, families in need and other local non-profits.
When we separated this out, making it a whole campaign unto itself, it expanded wildly. Now we just want to keep up with the demand.
A few weeks ago, we got a call from the ASY. They want to distribute 500 tickets to military across the Interior. Then, Kent Johnson called from Clear. He wants a greater allotment for his peopl - they have a lot of big families down there and you know, you can't take just half your kids to the show.
It is incredibly compelling when people are hungry for what you have. We want to make this happen. True, there is no deployment coming up to feed the immediacy of this cause. But these soldiers continue to serve and their families continue to sacrifice for us all.
The program has grown beyond our ability to keep up with the demand. We ask for your help. The urgency no is time. Please give a little... and help us spread the word!

FCA Military Appreciation Project
Everyone deserves access to high
quality arts experiences and education-- especially our military families.
Their
enthusiasm is understandable. Our family show, Quixotic Fusion offers a compelling combination--
an ensemble of artists from various disciplines including aerial acrobatics,
dance, fashion, film, music and visual f-x. This inventive group of artists goes
beyond the limits of any specific art form, challenging traditional perceptions
and creating a total sensory experience for its audience unlike any other, exploring
infinite possibilities of movement, sound and multimedia. What family wouldn’t want to attend?
Why is this important?
This is an opportunity for us
to bring members of our community closer, show them our appreciation of their
sacrifice and offer a better look at the welcoming community that lies beyond their gates.
What if?
If we don't reach our goal, we'll still contribute as many tickets as possible to the military, we'll still continue with our education and outreach mission and we'll still bring Quixotic Fusion to Fairbanks.
This is our first use of Indiegogo, but not our first Education Partnership campaign. The Fairbanks Concert Association has been offering great concerts, education and outreach to Interior Alaska for 66 years.
How else can I help?
Help us get the word out! Tell your friends, family and colleagues. Post on Facebook. This will take a little bit of help from a whole lot of people, but we are confident that this community will make it happen!
Thank you
