Short Summary
My name is Vishal Gautam, a fourth year business student at Wilfrid Laurier University. I launched this campaign so that I can help raise funds for the Typhoon Haiyan relief in the Philippines. My goal is to help raise $2,000 CAD by the end of November and I need your help.
More than nine million people have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan - known locally as Yolanda. In the worst hit coastal city of Tacloban, some estimates suggest that up to 10,000 people have died from a population of 200,000. Eye witnesses say hardly a single house remains standing.
The authorities in the Philippines pre-emptively evacuated nearly 790,000 people and had pre-positioned food packages for nearly 500,000 people. But with millions of people living in the path of the typhoon, many now need immediate assistance with drinking water, food, emergency shelters, and medicines. What We Need & What You Get
Goal: Raise $2,000 CAD by the end of November.
All the proceeds will be donated to Plan Canada, a global non-profit organization. Plan is on the ground providing life-saving support – clean water, temporary shelters, and protecting children. Yet the task ahead is massive. Homes, schools, hospitals and lives need to be rebuilt.
Government of Canada has also agreed to match every dollar to dollar that you donate, so thats twice the impact.
