Summary
Subjects such as Biology, Chemical Reactions, History and Civics need to be revised frequently. Remembering answers will not be a burden when good study techniques are used.
Scientifically proven techniques such as analogies, metaphors, mnemonics, audio-visuals, chunking and recall method have been used to make this prototype. It reduces learning time by upto 50%.
1.5 years back I gave up a well paying job and started researching about the problems and solutions related to education. StudyKite.com was created to solve a problem that nobody had solved on a large scale.
But dont take my word for it! Spend 5 minutes evaluating the prototype. http://studykite.com . Do you find it easier to revise this way? Would you like your children to use it?
How it works.
1. Analogy
Analogies help to speed up learning by connecting a known concept to an intangible concept.
2. Mnemonic
Mnemonics make the answer catchy and easy to remember.
3. Visual
Humans have very powerful visual memory . Such visuals create long lasting memories.
How Is It Different
Learning has two core components
- Understanding
- Revising & Remembering.
Most teachers and Ed-Tech companies focus on making the child understand concepts. Understanding is critical, and without understanding long term learning is impossible. The task of revising is left to the child. Here the child tries to remember what she has already understood. Some children re-read the same text over and over to memorise it. Others write down formulae over and over. Indian 10th and 12th grade students study for over 45 hours a week for high-stakes exams. Despite this most of them are not happy with their results. They are stressed all the time.
Studykite focuses on making it easy to remember answers.
The Impact
By contributing to this project
- You will contribute to giving students the confidence they need to tackle exams.
- You will contribute to taking the stress out of high stakes examinations.
- You will help countless struggling students to learn with ease.
- Most students in remedial classes develop a belief that they are not smart enough. With this solution, many students can discontinue with their remedial classes and perform better in school. This will give a much needed boost to their self confidence.
- The impact is not just limited to the 10th grade examination. The impact is also creating a belief system that with the right techniques, and a little bit of effort, every child can get good grades. Intelligence is not something children are born with. It is developed and nurtured. The belief that "I am not smart enough" has done more damage to careers than bad grades ever did. Altering that belief when the child is young is very important.
I need your support to complete the Biology syllabus by December 2018, so that 10th grade students can use it for their examination in 2019. As of now, only 1 out of 17 chapters is ready. There is lots to be done!!
About Us
I am the only person working on the project full time. However, the project has received massive support from the community because it is addressing a burning issue. Here are a few of the people who have contributed to the project with their expertise, feedback and guidance.
I started learning programming when I was in 3rd grade. I am a software developer with 6 years of experience. Throughout my career I have focused on innovation and finding better ways to solve problems. I won 3 hackathons in a row in a competitive environment at Adobe Systems. The key to all my winning prototypes was delivering one simple solution to a complex set of problems. You can read more about my background here https://in.linkedin.com/in/tanvi-jagtap-a6946952

What We Need & What You Get
Right now I am doing everything - programming, content creation, editing, sound and image editing. I dont take up any freelance projects to earn income because they will distract me from this critical project. I use my savings to pay the bills.
I need funding to cover the following costs
- Assistance of a Software Developer.
-
Shutterstock Images - These beautiful images will engage the child and increase attention span.
- For contributors - there are two types of perks.
- For those who want the content for their children - We give you access to all our flashcards!! :)
- For students who want to perform better at school - You will get a PDF with the best study techniques. You will also get a 2 hour consulting session with me which will help you identify ways in which you can study more efficiently.
- For professional who feel exhausted with the mental effort that their job demands - You will get a pdf with the best working techniques, and also a 2 hour consulting session with me which will help you identify ways in which you can work more efficiently.
Risks & Challenges
- Software development delays - This risk comes with most software projects. I have 6 years of work experience. I am committed to transparency, I will do my best to minimize delays, and be in communication about any challenges.
- 100% concept coverage - The techniques available to memorize efficiently are infinitely powerful. The only constraint is my own creativity. I may not be able to come up with fun and creative metaphors for all topics. About 25% of the flashcards might become boring. I will work with creative people in my network to help me brainstorm better ways to present the concept.
Other Ways you Can Help
I value many other forms of contribution as much, and often more than money! You can contribute by :
- Telling us ways we can make the product better. The website would not have been possible without inputs of more than 60 people. The most impactful contributions have been acknowledged here .
- Share the website with people who might find it useful - Parents, Teachers and Students.
- Share this campaign and help us to succeed in our mission!
- Suggest better metaphors, or better pixabay/shutterstock images.
Thank you for your support!!
