Short Summary
Hi! We’re the
Southern Coalition for Social Justice, a nonprofit, community-driven organization based in Durham, North Carolina that focuses on voting rights and other pressing civil rights issues. We are dedicated to protecting the rights of all eligible North Carolina voters against the state's new, oppressive "
monster voter law." We've created a mobile data collection app that will give volunteers an effective tool to report instances of voter suppression at NC polling places on Election Day. Not only will this information help our organization respond immediately to resolve voters' problems, documenting the negative effects of the new voter law will arm us with important data as we continue to we challenge the law in court. Just as important, this app provides our community partners with information that they've identified as being essential to their successful voting rights work.
What We Need & What You Get
$1,500 will be used to pay for the web service that hosts the mobile data that will be collected in North Carolina. This is just a part of a larger campaign to raise funds to pay also for community volunteer training sessions and related training materials, and for staff time to crunch the data we receive on Election Day in North Carolina and in other states in the Southeast. Your donation helps us get the app into the hands of the people who need it most.
Get into the fight to defend voting rights in North Carolina. Help us work to make sure that every voter can cast a ballot and that every vote is counted!
