A NEW MEDIEVAL ADVENTURE IN THE MAKING

WHO ARE WE?

We are a team of filmmakers, reenactors and Middle-Ages enthusiasts, and above all we are a group of lifelong friends. In 2022, we released the multi award-winning, micro-budget historical short film “FIORE”, a 12-minute sneak peek in the life of medieval master-at-arms Fiore dei Liberi, with a deep focus on historical accuracy.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Or better, what now? Over the last year and a half we have actually already been working quietly on a sequel to FIORE! Why did we keep quiet for so long? Quite simply, because we are a team of volunteers, and making a historical film on a micro-budget is a daunting challenge. We did not want to get ahead of ourselves. But things have been progressing quite well, and thanks to the hard work of our amazing crew, more than half the film has already been completed! The new project will be three times the runtime of FIORE 1, featuring an adventurous story-line with many new characters and locations. Like FIORE 1, the sequel will be in Italian with English subtitles.

WHY DO WE NEED HELP?

While being a team of volunteers means that our expenses are mostly related to food, transportation, and the raw cost of materials, props and gear, the complex nature of bringing to life a historical drama means that sheer passion is not always enough.

FIORE 1 was made thanks to the contribution of a few generous supporters moved by a passion for culture, history and art. We wanted to achieve a more truthful representation of the Middle Ages – which were quite different to the world of darkness, dirt and negative stereotypes that Hollywood has gotten us used to – and going on feedback, we reached our goal.

Now, to ensure that the quality of our content stays as high as it has been in the past, we are asking all of our fans to come together in helping us bring even more Medieval beauty to the big screen.

Here is how you can help us:

• You can donate to the project: your valued coin purse will help us with logistics, acquiring essential materials and accurate historical gear for the film, and help us cover at least part of the expenses that we've had to face so far.
• You can gift us historical gear that you're willing to part from. Get in touch and we can figure out if something you have can be of help!
• And of course you can share our content and show kindness towards our efforts in bringing more historical accuracy on screen: as reenactors we often complain about the lack of authenticity in big productions. While there may be little we can do to change that, we can at least help each other in trying to produce more reenactment-friendly content!

WHAT WILL YOU GET FOR YOUR SUPPORT?

Our goal is first and foremost to make a good film, and allocating donated funds towards fancy merch would take your generous support away from the true objective. Still, who doesn't enjoy some recognition for a worthy deed of arms? Of course you would like to see your name listed in the credits, but would you also like early access to behind the scenes content, articles and podcasts, or even never before seen stills from Fiore 2 itself? WHEN WILL FIORE 2 BE RELEASED?

All good things take time, and even more so when you're a team of volunteers working in their spare time. FIORE 1 took one year to complete, and while well over half of FIORE 2 is already under our belts, it will still take months to finish filming and complete post-production. Assuming we get the support that we need, we are aiming at finishing work by the end of winter 2025. The film will then embark on a festival run, at the end of which it will be released to the general public.

UNA NUOVA AVVENTURA MEDIEVALE

CHI SIAMO?

Siamo un gruppo di filmmakers, rievocatori e appassionati di Medioevo. Ma siamo prima ancora un gruppo di amici di vecchia data. Nel 2022 abbiamo rilasciato il pluri-premiato cortometraggio storico micro-budget "FIORE", che in circa 12 minuti presentava al pubblico la figura del maestro d'armi medievale Fiore dei Liberi, con particolare attenzione alla fedeltà storica.

E ADESSO?

Nel corso dell'ultimo anno e mezzo abbiamo lavorato in sordina per portare alla vita un sequel di FIORE. Perché non abbiamo detto nulla? Semplicemente perché siamo una squadra di volontari, e realizzare un film storico con un budget irrisorio è una sfida enorme. Non abbiamo voluto fare il passo più lungo della gamba. Ma il lavoro ha preso forma gradualmente, e grazie alla nostra fantastica troupe, più di metà film è già stato completato! Il nuovo progetto sarà tre volte la durata di FIORE 1, con una trama avventurosa e molti personaggi nuovi e location in più. Come per FIORE 1, il sequel sarà in italiano con sottotitoli disponibili in inglese.

PERCHE' CI SERVE SUPPORTO?

Anche se essere una squadra di volontari significa che i costi convergono principalmente in pasti, spostamenti, materiali e ricostruzioni di oggetti storici, portare in vita una vicenda storica è un'impresa che non può essere sostenuta solamente dalla buona volontà.

FIORE 1 è stato realizzato grazie al sostegno di alcune persone generose mosse dall'amore per la cultura, la storia e l'arte. Volevamo ottenere una raffigurazione più veritiera del Medioevo - molto diversa da quel mondo di oscurità, sporcizia e sterotipi negativi tipici di Hollywood - e a giudicare dalla risposta del pubblico, abbiamo raggiunto l'obbiettivo.

Ora, per poter mantenere lo stesso livello, vorremmo chiedere a tutti i fan di unirsi nell'aiutarci a portare sul grande schermo un'ancor più ricca estetica medievale.

Potete aiutarci in vari modi:

• Donando al progetto: la vostra preziosa offerta ci aiuterà con la logistica, con l'acquisizione di materiali storici per il film, e nel coprire almeno in parte le spese che abbiamo dovuto affrontare fino ad ora.
• Potete donarci del materiale storico oppure, se avete dei contatti, agevolarci l'accesso a location medievali (in zona Piemonte, Valle d'Aosta o Lombardia). Contattateci e fateci delle proposte!
• E ovviamente potete condividere i nostri contenuti e mostrare sostegno verso i nostri sforzi nel portare maggior accuratezza storica sullo schermo: come rievocatori ci lamentiamo spesso della mancanza di verosimiglianza nelle grandi produzioni. Forse possiamo farci poco, ma possiamo certamente unirci nel creare contenuti più in linea con lo spirito rievocativo!

COSA OTTERRETE PER IL VOSTRO SOSTEGNO?

Il nostro obbiettivo è realizzare un buon film, e utilizzare le donazioni per assegnare ricompense stravaganti significherebbe investire la vostra generosità in qualcosa che non è lo scopo del progetto. Tuttavia, a chi non fa piacere un cenno di gratitudine per l'aver compiuto un'azione valorosa? Vorrete certamente vedere il vostro nome nei titoli di coda, ma che ne direste di avere accesso a dei contenuti dietro le quinte, articoli, podcast e immagini esclusive di FIORE 2? O magari persino un'invito VIP ad una proiezione online, prima che il film sia disponibile al grande pubblico? Date un'occhiata ai vari livelli!

- Scudiero: il vostro nome comparirà nei titoli di coda.

- Mercenario: il vostro nome comparirà nei titoli di coda e riceverete un digital package di immagini scaricabili (poster, wallpaper...).

- Condottiero: oltre a quanto sopra, avrete anche accesso anticipato a contenuti esclusivi come articoli, video e foto del dietro le quinte, podcast e fotogrammi e clip del film in anteprima.

- Magister: oltre a quanto sopra, avrete anche accesso esclusivo ad una proiezione online del film durante il periodo dei festival, mesi prima che sia disponibile al pubblico.

QUANDO USCIRA' FIORE 2?

Tutte le cose belle richiedono tempo, soprattutto quando si è un team di volontari che lavorano nel tempo libero. FIORE 1 aveva richiesto un anno di lavoro, e sebbene FIORE 2 sia già stato completato per metà circa, ci vorranno ancora diversi mesi per finire le riprese e completare la post-produzione. Ipotizzando di ottenere il sostegno sperato, stiamo puntando a terminare il lavoro entro la fine dell'inverno 2025. Il film proseguirà poi nel circuito dei festival, alla fine del quale sarà disponibile al grande pubblico.

Quindi, se non vedete l'ora di assistere a Fiore in azione il prima possibile, considerate la possibilità di unirvi ai nostri ranghi!
