The Burning Desire
Firebug is a drama about a young girl with pyromania. When her addiction becomes dangerous to those she loves, she must struggle to stop, or forever burn those around her.
Who Started This Fire?
We are a group of student filmmakers dedicated to telling stories that inspire and entertain. As a group, we were drawn to this story like moths to a... well, you get the idea.
This film is more than just a project, it is a stepping stone. This is an opportunity for us to show the world the filmmaking skills we have been honing for years.
Your contribution is the fuel that will let the creative passion within us to burn bright, hopefully bright enough for the world to see.
What Keeps Us Burning
Your contributions will help us pay for critical aspects of our film. Some of the most expensive costs may surprise you:
- Food (With any set, meals are always one of the largest costs)
- Props and Set Dressing (Making the set come alive is no easy, or cheap, task)
- Safety Personnel (This film will require fire safety experts for some scenes)
But What Do You Get Out Of This?
Over on the right are some very unique perk packages, including credit as producers, as well as special behind-the-scenes materials that will only be available to our contributors.
Why Us? Why This Film?
This story comes from a burning passion to tell a story about addiction through a different lens. We examine how an innocent child with a seemingly harmless hobby turns around to bring about unhealable scars to those she's loved. Inspired by the ravaging wildfires Central Texas faces from time to time, Firebug is a story we believe in, and with your support we can shine a light on the pain addiction causes.
We are an experienced film crew, with a track record of creating entertaining films. Your investment will go toward filmmakers with training and experience, and toward a story with great potential to make waves in the film festival circuit.
We currently have films in post production and in consideration at several festivals across the country. We know the challenges that are ahead, and we also know how to successfully face them.
But I Don't Have Money To Burn
Hey, we get it. We are students. If you can't contribute monetarily, spread the word. There are links on this page to share this with your friends, family and coworkers all over social media.
Oh, and lets not forget the lost art of "word of mouth". And smoke signals. Sorry, had to fit just one more fire pun in there.
Who Are These Pyros, Anyway?
Andrea Tuttrup -- Producer
![]()
Having had her
childhood home affected by the Bastrop wildfires, this story resonates deeply
with Andrea Tuttrup. She is close to finishing her degree in
Radio-Television-Film at The University of Texas in Austin and is interested in
all stages of production. She has worked on numerous short films and Television
shows such as American Idol and The X Factor.
Tyler Kerrick -- Writer
![]()
A writer/film maker from Fort Worth, TX. He is excited to see this film, which he wrote, come to fruition. In his work, he likes to explore abnormal and sometimes uncomfortable themes and characters. He finds delving into emotions and mindsets that are foreign to him rewarding. With something as awesome and frightening as fire, film is the only medium that can truly do this work justice.
Terral Wells -- Writer
![]()
Terral Wells is the creator and one of the writers of
Firebug. He's written for Texas Student Television and other independent projects, and spent time on-set for Cinemax's show
Banshee. He hopes to continue writing for the screen in the future.
Uyen-Anh Dang -- Casting Director
Uyen-Anh Dang has had a love for acting and the industry since she was young. In order to pursue this passion, she majored and graduated with a degree in Theatre and Dance with a focus in Acting. She currently has been acting in the film industry and locally around Austin's theatres, but also enjoys being on the other side of the spectrum: casting. She's had experience casting in various projects during her time at UT and looks forward to finding "Firebug's" talents. Uyen-Anh helped in the creation of "Firebug" with Terral, Tyler and Duc and can't wait to see it come to life!
