Who are you? What is this all about?
We are Jake and Mik. We're two UK based industry professionals working in various areas of TV, film and advertising production. We've been writing together for 7+ years, occasionally producing YouTube videos for fun, and now we've started work on what we think could be a great short film called Fleeced.
The two of us have written and will be starring in the film, with Jake producing and directing and Mik editing. While we are the main faces of the operation, behind the scenes there's a group of incredibly talented people that are working with us to get this made - including a cinematographer, costume designer, composer and a press officer, as well a few others that have offered their support. We'll introduce you to them all further down the line.

The film:
Story:
Owen is enjoying a calm hike through the Leicestershire countryside, until he finds himself face to face with a sheep-man. A man dressed in sheep wool, with sheep features & brains, but in man shape.
After continuing his walk he realises that the sheep-man has followed him. This interaction leads to Owen taking the sheep-man into his home and providing food and shelter.
Their bond quickly grows, the once emotionless sheep-man is finally able to relax as Owen gains a friend, only for true intentions to be revealed.
Approx runtime:
3-4 minutes
Genre:
Surreal comedy
Tone:
The tone of the film will subdued and serious feeling when it comes to the performance, allowing the absurd nature of the situation to carry the comedy aspect.
Why do you want my money?
Making films is quite expensive. Even stupid short ones.
We have a small crew of people that are very generously volunteering their time to work on the film with us, and we're also very lucky to have people involved in the project that are willing to let us borrow some necessary production equipment.
While we do have money set aside to cover the necessities, your donations could help take our production to the next level. Even the smallest of donations can go a long way in ensuring everything goes smoothly and we have a happy team.
Here's a breakdown of areas of the production the money will support:
Transport - Getting the crew where we need them.
Food - Feeding the crew so they don't starve while we're making the film.
Equipment - Tools that are needed for production e.g. lighting, sound, digital storage.
Props & Costume - Materials and items needed to make the film look good.
Film Festivals - A lot of festivals require a fee to enter, and some of the money we raise will go towards those fees.
What have you done before this?
Jake's motion design work:

Mik's editing work:

We've both done plenty of work on small and no-budget projects, some of which are on our websites above. Jake having worked on multiple animated shorts, and Mik on both short and feature length films.
As mentioned in the first paragraph, we produce a somewhat regular YouTube series - Murder! - all shot on one day and almost entirely improvised. It's different in tone to what we're going for with Fleeced, but we thought you might be interested!

What's next?
We have completed most of the pre-production already - that's the writing, planning the shots and where we'll shoot them, and a little bit of marketing. Once we've got funding, we can get out and start shooting the film in mid to late April. Then onto post-production - editing, VFX, colouring.
And Then?
After the film is finalised, it's time to get the film out into the world. We'll be sending the film off to some local and international film festivals. Many festivals require the film to not have been released when submitting it, so going down this route means we won't be able to post it online publicly until the festival run is over.
However, once festivals are out of the way, that's when we get the film uploaded online for everyone to watch. Most likely on our YouTube channel, possibly other platforms too.
Thank you.
Thanks for checking out the campaign, and if you do end up donating some of your money towards the film, we are very grateful to you. Everyone that gives any amount will have their name in the credits of the film as a thank you, but we also have a few other perks for those interested in putting in a more substantial amount of money.
