Flying Eyes were created by Dean Siracusa, a guy who loves to fly. And when you fly an airplane, you wear a noise-reducing headset. So, like most pilots, he'd always end up fidgeting with his sunglasses, trying to get them comfortable. Plus, there was the constant turning up the volume on the headset because of the noise leaks caused by the temples making that little gap in the seal.
Dean thought there ought to be sunglasses with a soft, flat headstrap instead of regular sides, so you wouldn't even feel it under a headset.
After searching for such a thing and not finding it, Dean spent more than a year experimenting with designs and working with eyewear experts. The end result was a pair of sunglasses that he was confident would be the absolute best sunglasses to wear with an aviation headset.
So he took his own savings and borrowed some from friends and family and had a batch of the original Flying Eyes sunglasses produced. (It costs a LOT of money to make really good quality sunglasses, especially if you're just a little company and not one of the giant manufacturers.)
Turns out, Flying Eyes are fantastic for aviation. And also for motorcycles, equestrian, snowboarding, disc golf, aviation ground crews, racing pit crews, and demolition derby. Anything you love to do that needs both eye protection and a helmet or headset. Or where you just don't want your sunglasses flying off at an inopportune moment.

Well, we started selling the original Flying Eyes sunglasses last year, and now it's time to make more sunglasses. Re-ordering more of the exact same sunglasses would be a lot cheaper, but we have really listened to the people who wear our first sunglasses and have found ways to make Flying Eyes better and more useful — which means paying for the expensive molds and tooling to make them.

What makes Flying Eyes unique?
Convertible Sunglasses ~ There's a little button on the sides. It's a super-easy new release mechanism which allows you to quickly change from the headstrap to the regular temples to the micro-thin temples, so you can go from one activity to another without slowing down.
Headstrap ~ The soft, thin, non-elastic headstrap works with the overall frame design to hold the sunglasses gently and perfectly on your face, and your ears won't even know it's there—no matter how tight your headset. Plus, because it's so thin, your Active Noise Reduction headsets will work better and last longer — no more noise leaks!
Micro-thin Temples ~ These extra-thin — less than 1 mm — flexible, unbreakable sides are perfect with motorcycle, equestrian, cycling, and other helmets — they slip right under!
Durable Frame ~ Made from lightweight, unbreakable, flexible Resilamide, the new frames will be available in our original matte black, or in a shiny black.
Vision-enhancing Lenses ~ Flying Eyes feature technologically advanced, precision polycarbonate lenses for eagle-eyed clarity.
They offer the UV400 protection, the highest level of protection against UV radiation, along with anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings. The shatterproof lenses also offer vision-enhancing clarity and true color perception.
Flying Eyes are available in our original aviation-friendly, neutral gray, non-polarized lenses, plus: polarized lenses, bifocals, gradient tint, gradient tint bifocals, and custom prescription lenses!

We already have prototypes of the new sunglasses and the factory is ready to make them — we just have to pay the nice people. Since we've been through this once before, with the same manufacturer, we are confident we'll have these revolutionary sunglasses to you quickly.
If we don't reach our fundraising goal, it may take us a bit longer to get the sunglasses made and out the door to you, but it will still happen!
If we surpass our funding goal, not only will you get your perks super-fast, but we'll also reveal our stretch goals! (Hint: some totally new additional frame styles. We're working on a larger and wider version of our signature frame, as well as a stylish women's frame that will include a tortoiseshell option. We're also close to finalizing a super lightweight titanium version.)

We've tried to include perks that
will express our gratitude, whatever your budget. But if you are in a serious budget
