The GM Street Team: How the Madness Began

We started as 6 different people in 6 different rooms, not knowing each other, and not knowing where to turn next.  Our world was falling apart.  We saw how imminent the hamster wheel was; we saw the apathy that sank into the hearts of our peers, our parents, our professors.  We decided to take a stand.  We decided to DO something about it, even though we didn't know what it was.  We just began to see what we could bring to the table…and brought it.  A singer, a DJ, a chef, a musician, an artist, and an athlete found each other, and found out that not only could they change the world…everyone could.

The Campaign!!

In August 2011, GoodMakers Films will produce and film an unforgettable live music and dance festival in Kibera, Kenya, Africa's biggest slum, to promote the Oasis Program. GoodMakers Films and the GoodMakers Street Team will be facilitating arts outreach programs, culminating in this final performance to support the Oasis Program and bringing arts to the children of the slum.  The Dance Festival will be a cross-cultural collaboration between a well-respected musical director from Los Angeles and Kenyan pop stars Jimmy Gait and Daddy Owen, and will be heavily promoted and supported by local media outlets, celebrities and politicians.  The Street Team will also be working with The Kilimanjaro Film School to do film workshops and facilitating arts programs in Tanzania.

We need your support.
The money donated will go to our travel costs to get to Africa to transform this dream into a reality, to continue taking over empty schools, forgotten neighborhoods, places that need attention and care that have been swept away with the economic state of the world.  Please help us with this journey!!
