Short Summary

My name is Jennifer Brown and I am a sponsor through Compassion International. I am going to be traveling to Haiti to help Compassion in their efforts in building up the communities of Haiti one child at a time.

What I Need & What You Get

I need $1,500.00 in order to finish paying for the trip and medical cost involved in going to Haiti. Included are Malaria prevention treatments and full round trip cost.

Every order that is over twenty dollars will get to choose a loaf of bread from these three options:

1) Banana Nut Bread

2) Chocolate Bread

3) Vanilla Pound Cake

If I do not make my full goal all funds will first go toward the trip and if there is any left over it will still help me with medical costs.

The Impact

Everyone deserves the tools to build themselves a better life. Children in Haiti are faced with challenges every day from the threat of disease to child sex trade abductions. Every child deserves love and the chance to chose their path for themselves. Compassion gives children in Haiti the opportunity to break the chains of poverty and have a better life when they are older. One trip, Five Days, Life time of poverty breaking tools and skills. Outside of just children Compassion also teaches adults new ways to make an income where they are. I want to be a part and give a child new hope.

Risks & Challenges

Plain and simple, this is not the safest journey. Haiti's government and overall social barriers will make it difficult, not to mention the language barriers. I have an allergy to mosquitos and will be putting myself in the firing line of mosquito spread diseases. Though I will be protecting myself, having to wear long pants and long sleeve shirts while hiking up some rough terrain will be a challenge for someone like me who has never hiked up a speed bump, much less a slope of dirt and rock.

Other Ways You Can Help

If money is not a way you feel comfortable donating. I will need first aid supplies, shirts, pants, and boots for the trip. I am a size large to extra large in shirts, a size 14 in pants, and a size 8 1/2 on shoes. Any help is welcome, as are words of encouragement. This trip is a big step for me in my dream to do missions work. I am very excited and nervous. Having never gone over seas, I cannot say I have not been fearful at times considering I have no idea who I will going on this trip with. I will not meet my group until I land in Haiti. So anything that you offer will be of great value to me no matter the cost.
