Overview

I’m Allison Waxman, a third-year MFA candidate in the Writing and Producing for Television program at Loyola Marymount University. Full Count is my graduate thesis project and I’m aiming to raise $7,000 to fund the production and post-production process

About Full Count

Full Count is a comedy series about the fictional, down-on-their-luck, Triple-A ball club, Morro Bay Otters and former child-actor psychologist Sasha Roth, who is brought in to turn them around. In desperate need of a change of scenery, Sasha’s tasked with fixing hot-headed All-Star, Landon Casey, who’s made it his mission to make Sasha’s life a living hell. This adds insult to injury for General Manager Peyton Mesoraco, Sasha’s former best friend, whose job is on the line. Sasha is forced to act fast before the truth about why she was let go from her last job is revealed.

What We Need

There’s still a lot left to pay for before production even begins. Some of the expenses left to cover are:

-Locations: Because of the magnitude of the project, we need to have a baseball stadium capable of passing as a minor league stadium. That means looking at current and former minor league stadiums and collegiate stadiums, with rental fees totaling well over $2000.

-Uniforms and Props: Jerseys, hats, bats, balls, helmets, gloves, you name it, we need it. While our location is being gracious enough to allow us to use the larger items like batting cages, we need the smaller items, which adds up at the end of the day.

-Catering and Craft Services: Most of my crew and cast members are helping me on a volunteer-basis. The least I can do is make sure they’re well-fed and hydrated.

And much more!

Risks & Challenges

With any outdoor production, there's always the risk of weather and rain. While it's always sunshine and warmth here in California, January tends to be the rainy season.

I have a number of productions under my belt during my time here at LMU and have learned a lot along my way. As a result, I've learned to prepare. We have a rain draft of our script. We also have a contingency in our budget in case of weather. Our location is being gracious enough, once again, to work with us in case mother nature decides to do her thing.

Meet the Team

Allison Waxman - Writer-Creator-Executive Producer

Unfortunately a New York Mets fan since birth, Allison was born and raised ON (you’re never in) Long Island, NY. Allison was keen on working in Sports Management, then in English Education, then in Public Relations and Advertising and then back in English Education again, but the one thing that stayed consistent was her love of television and film. She continued to write an array of pilots during her array of potential career choices and soon realized what she needed to do. After graduating from Hofstra University with a degree in Video and Television Production, Allison moved to Los Angeles to pursue her MFA in Writing and Producing at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television. She’s excited and beyond anxious to bring her love of sports and television together.

Liz Holland - Director

Liz Holland is a Los Angeles native who graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2018 with bachelor’s degrees in Film & Television Production and English Literature, and a minor in Film & Television Studies. Since graduating, Liz has produced and assistant directed numerous projects, including independent shorts, commercial advertisements for CocaCola RegalFilms, series streaming on Funny or Die (The Room Actors: Where Are They Now) and Netflix (The Hollywood Masters Series), as well as four feature films. Over the past three years she has directed two shorts, the first, “Blue Dream,” was accepted into the Chicago International Blow Up Film Festival in 2017. The most recent, “Rough Cut,” is just now hitting the festival circuit, being screened at HollyShorts Monthly and awarded at Blow Up 2019. With over five years of production experience and the LMU School of Film and Television Undergraduate Production Award, Liz is an active and avid member of the film community, passionate about collaborating and creating.

Patrick Kelly - Producer

Patrick was born in Newton, MA. He grew up in North Carolina and Massachusetts before studying theater at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After graduation, Patrick was distraught to discover that his theater degree didn’t open as many employment-related doors as he had hoped. During this time, Patrick wrote a bunch of screenplays while working at a nonprofit after-school program for at-risk kids. After burying his first few screenplays in the yard (yes, they were THAT bad), he continued writing until he managed to option a pilot with a producer. Nowadays, he’s pursuing an MFA at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television.

Preston Ray - Producer

Preston Ray grew up in Oklahoma City, a place where there is truly nothing to do. As a way of entertaining himself and his friends, he turned to filmmaking and started churning out a series of cringeworthy videos that are preserved for posterity on YouTube. After discovering this passion for making movies he attended The University of Texas at Austin where he was able to make a few more films and write a few scripts. Now as a graduate student of LMU’s Writing and Producing for Television MFA program, his ambitions have broadened beyond the realm of YouTube videos as he tries to bring bigger and better stories to the screen. A retired little league slugger himself, he is extremely excited to see Allison’s story of a minor league team be brought to life.

Noura Alavi - Associate Producer

Like the legend that is Beyonce, Noura was born and raised in Houston, TX. After bouncing around from studying Classical Archaeology (???) and International Relations, Noura graduated from The University of Texas with a BA in Psychology. During her time at UT, Noura took a number of creative writing courses which greatly increased her passion for storytelling. Not quite brave enough to veer off course after graduation, Noura worked as a research associate in a Clinical Psychology Research Lab specializing in Anxiety Disorders. Although contributing to important research, Noura felt unfulfilled in her work and finally decided to pursue her lifelong passion for writing and filmmaking. Noura is now pursuing an MFA in Writing and Producing for Television at Loyola Marymount University. A complete novice to the beautiful game, Noura is looking forward to being properly educated on all things baseball.
