Adams Aqualife
Adams Aqualife is an aquaculture farm In Barbados owned and operated by myself (Kristina Adams) that produces Red Tilapia and Red Claw Crayfish for human consumption. The farm uses a re-circulating aquaculture system known as the “Greenwater System” that allows for the high production of fish while being sustainable and environmentally friendly.
I am a young entrepreneur who would like to see my business grow in scale to become something larger. I want to build a commercial farm that can produce fish for my island and can also export these products to other countries to earn valuable foreign exchange. Young people in Barbados are no longer attracted to farming as a
profession, and I hope to change this. I want to show Barbadians that fish farming is a viable business and is extremely suitable for our island.
If you share my vision for a world where farmers produce high quality products while being mindful of their impact on the environment and their community, please support my crowd-funding campaign.

Help My Farm to Grow
Help me to grow my business by donating money towards my business expansion. By supporting my business you will be helping to grow a sutainable farming product that will help to feed Barbados and eventually the international community. You can make the difference, and become involved in a project that will help to grow our economy and increase our food security.
All funds gained from crowdfdning will be used to buy new tanks and farm equipment which will allow me to expand my operation and produce more fish per month. The more you donate the faster I can expand my farm!
Please see the perks I am offering on the right. My farm will be moving to a bigger and better location where the public will be able to visit and see how the fish are farmed. I will also be giving recognition to everyone who assists my project by placing their names on a "Crowd-Funding Display" in front of my tanks. I have also created limited edition mugs and aprons so that you can proudly show your support for my project while cooking Tilapia and Crayfish in your kitchen!
Below is the design that will be on the mugs/aprons
Why Aquaculture
Global fish stocks are threatened worldwide, and as a result capture fisheries have stagnated. However people are looking to eat more fish as part of a healthy diet and the demand for fish has increased. Aquaculture is increasing worldwide to meet the demand for fish. Adams Aqualife will produce fish to meet the demand locally in
Barbados, and will expand over the next few years to meet regional and international demands.
MY VISION FOR BARBADOS
The farm will help to lower the food import bill and contribute to food security on the island. Barbados has an extremely high food import bill, importing 350 million USD in food per year of which $15 million dollars is fish. Adams Aqualife will focus on farming high quality products that the consumer can rely on. The products will be produced in a sustainable manner and will appeal to consumers who want certifiable products.
Our products should be recognizable as a brand that is good for the consumer and for the environment. Adams Aqualife will offer high quality fish products all year round; at consistent sizes and quantities, to give consumers more choices in their seafood, at competitive prices.
The farm will work with local suppliers to create jobs and opportunities for other industries. Adams Aqualife will also look to export our certified products to North and South America, as well as the European Union, which will earn foreign exchange for the island.
The company will have the following brand values
1. Innovation – leading the development of tropical aquaculture species and best practices.
2. Sustainable - promoting the use ofsustainable practices and be environmentally friendly.
3. Integrity – assuring a high quality, healthy product that is available all year round

ALL ABOUT ME (Kristina Adams)
After studying aquaculture at the University of Guelph in
Canada, I returned home to Barbados and researched the idea of starting a fish
farm on the island. After completing my Masters at UWI, I decided to start a
small-scale commercial Tilapia farm. The system I chose to build is a
Greenwater system, which uses very little water, and is environmentally
friendly. I stocked the first tank in September 2011 and harvested my first
fish in March 2012.
I am a young entrepreneur who loves what I do. I have managed
to get this far thanks to my commitment to hardwork and lots of support and
volunteer help from family and friends.
Thank You for taking the time to view my campaign. Please spread the word about my project!
Regards
Kristina
